IM PROVEM ENT IN STAPLE-PULLERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 218,082, dated July 29, 1879; application filed March 29, 1879.

LoR, of the county of Delaware and State of Iowa, have invented a new and useful Irnprovement in Machinery for Drawing Fence Staples from Posts and from Fence-Stays, and for other uses, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my invention is to facilitate the ease and rapidity of performingthe work above described.
The invention consists in attaching to a pair of nippers or pinchers a projection or shoulder to either the rivet or to some other part of the nippers or pinchers, said projection extending up or down and forward to a point. as far forward as the ends of the jaws of the nippers or pinchers, or farther forward, as may be desirable.
In the drawing, A is a projection or shoulder coming down underneath a pair of nippers, and extending forward to a point a little The operation of the device is as follows: Grasp the jaws of the nippers or pinchers hold of the staple, or any object desired to be extracted, press the handles together, and pry over the projection or shoulder A, ,which in drawing fence-staples from posts or stays is done very rapidly, and also serves to save the staples for future use, which, when extracted in the usual way, are mostly destroyed, and the process slow and tedious, and frequently injuring the wire.
What 1 claim is- A pair of nippers or pinchers having a pro jection, as A, extending from the side of the nippers or pinchers, and even with or beyond the jaws, substantially as set forth.
