Description
Oct. 31, 1939.
O. D. KNUTESON HIDE OR SKIN DRESSING T'OOL Filed April 5, 1939 inverzfor OSCAR D. KNUTE5ON9 Patented Oct. 31, 1939 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
3 Claims.
This invention relates to a hide or skin dressing tool, and has for the primary object the provision of a device of this character which may be conveniently worn on a hand of a person with- 5 out cramping the fingers or hand and which includes a scraping blade so arranged that desired pressure may be placed thereon by the fingers and a portion of the hand so that fat and like substance may be easily and quickly scraped from 10 a hide or skin held in scraping position by the other hand of the person.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in certain other novel features of construction, combination and arrangement 15 of parts to be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
For a complete understanding of my invention, reference is to be had to the following description and accompanying drawing, in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view illustrating a, hide or skin dressing tool constructed in accordance with my invention.
Figure 2 is a vertical sectional view illustrating the same.
25 Figure 3 is an end view illustrating the device.
Referring in detail to the drawing, the numeral 5 indicates a blade having a slight arcuate curvature in a portion thereof and terminating in one end in a cutting or scraping edge 6. The
30 remaining portion of the blade which is not curved is substantially straight and has formed on opposite edges thereof upstanding attaching flanges l apertured to receive bolts or like fasteners 8 which secure on the blade or the straight 5 portion thereof a finger stall 9 consisting of an elongated block it) having a flat lower face and an upper curved face and a straight front face in which are formed finger grooves II.
The fasteners 8 also secure to the flanges 1 l spaced arms i2 which extend rearwardly of the blade and include angularly related portions, as clearly shown in Figure 2, and are connected by a cross member l3 having upstanding ears [4 provided with slots to receive an adjustable hand strap [6. li'he hand strap I6 is adapted to be placed across the back of the hand with the palm of the hand facing downwardly between the rearwardly extending arms l2 with the fin- 50 gers or tip ends thereof engaging in the finger grooves ll of the finger stall 9. A hand strap I1 is secured to the upstanding flanges T of the blade and is adapted to pass over the backs of the fingers for aiding in retaining the fingers within the finger grooves of the finger stall 9. 5 With the tool applied to the hand and fingers as described a person can place considerable pressure on the blade 5 so that fat and other substances may be thoroughly scraped from skins or hides while the latter are held in scraping po- 10 sition by the other hand of the person. This device can be worn on the hand with considerable comfort and will not be tiring or cramping to the hand.
It is believed that the foregoing description, when taken in connection with the drawing will fully set forth the construction and advantages of this invention to those skilled in the art to which such device relates so that further detailed description will not be required. I Having described the invention, what is claimed is:
1. A dressing tool comprising a blade having a scraping edge, a finger stall carried by said blade, and hand straps for retaining a persons hand in proper relation to the blade with the fingers in engagement with the finger stall.
2. A scraping tool comprising a blade having a scraping edge and provided with upstanding flanges spaced from the scraping edge, a finger 3O stall mounted on the blade between said flanges and including finger grooves, a finger strap connected with said flanges and adapted to pass over the fingers of a persons hand with the fingers resting in said finger grooves, and means connected with said flanges for further connecting the blade with the person's hand.
3. A scraping tool comprising a blade having a scraping edge and provided with upstanding flanges spaced from the scraping edge, a finger 40 stall mounted on the blade between said flanges and including finger grooves, a finger strap connected with said flanges and adapted to pass over the fingers of a persons hand with the fingers resting in said finger grooves, arms connected with said flanges and extending rearwardly of the blade and including angularly related portions, and an adjustable hand strap connected with said arms.
