In setting up the novel carton, from the blank, constructed and formed as above described, the primary base panel 29 and associated parts constituting the mounting or holder section of the carton is inturned relative to and folded over upon the inner surface of the inner base section l0, whereupon the holder panels 30-3| are bent, along the

In thus arranging the mounting or holder section, the same as a whole is foreshortened in length relative to the length of said inner'bottom section In, whereby the locking-tongue 36 may be thereupon inserted through the receiving slit 31 provided therefor in said inner bottom section III, thus anchoring the secondary base panel 34 to the latter so as to retain the mounting or holder section in operative form and disposition upon the interior of the ultimate carton bottom (see Figs. 7 and 8 more particularly).

After thus relating the mounting or holder section to the inner bottom section In, the articles desired to be closed with the carton, such e. g. a fountain pen A and a pencil 18 shown in dotted outline in Fig. l, are respectively inserted through aligned openings 38 of the holder panels 3l-3I',so that the same are supported in a desired affixed relation to the carton and against movement relative to the ultimately formed carton interior and to each other.

This is done by turning the side section I2, about the score ll, upwardly into right angle relation to the assembled inner bottom section i0 and mounting or holder section, thereupon turning the top section l4, about the score l3, into parallel overlying relation to said assembled inner bottom section III and mounting or holder section, whereupon the other side section I6 is turned, about. the score l5, downwardly into right angle relation to said top section l4 and inner bottom section III, and then turning said outer bottom section l8, about the score i1, into contiguous underlying relation to said inner bottom section 10, and thereupon inserting the locktongue 26 into the receiving slit 21 of the latter part, thereby fastening all the thus folded and related parts in operative carton forming relation. When the bottom, top and sides of the set up carton are thus produced, the ends of the carton thereby formed may be closed by turning inwardly the side tabs 24 and then folding the closure members 20 over the carton ends and securing the same in such position by inserting the tuck-portions 2| into the carton interior in a manner well-known in connection with ordinary types of tuck end cartons.

When the side sections l2 and i6 are operatively disposed at right angles to the top section l4, owing to the fact that the glazed opening or openings 39 extend at 40 across the intersections or corners formed between the top section l4 and the respective side sections i2 and I6, thus forming lateral extensions 42 of the viewing openings, a fuller and better visible disclosure of the contained articles is possible, especially when the carton is viewed from a lateral angle.

It will be observed that the novel carton construction hereinabove described involves an initially fiat blank including all the essential parts thereof, and consequently, when in initially collapsed form, the carton material or blanks may be stacked so as to occupy a minimum of storage space until desired for use. It will also be appreciated, that, when a carton is desired, the collapsed blank is so devised that it may be quickly and easily manipulated and set up into desired ultimate carton formation and its parts secured in operative set up relation without necessity of utilizing paste or adhesive.

Furthermore, due to the novel form of the mounting or holder section and the relation thereof to the other carton forming sections and elements, not only is such mounting or holder per se adapted to be quickly and easily erected to service position, but the articles to be supported thereby and ultimately enclosed within the formed carton can be conveniently and easily mounted thereon before setting up the carton section and other elements which is of considerable advantage both in assuring unimpeded access to the mounting or holder and in saving time and labor in manipulating the articles when mounting the same in connection therewith.

While I have shown and described the holder panels as furnished with openings to receive styliform articles, it will be understood thatvarious modifications may be made in this respect and in the form of the holder panels 3l-3l' themselves in order to adapt the same for the reception and support of other kinds and shapes of articles.

It will be understood various other changes could be made in construction herein shown and described, and many apparently widely different embodiments of this invention could be, made without departing from the scope thereof as defined by the following claims. It is therefore intended that all matter contained in the above description or shown in the accompanying drawings shall be interpreted as illustrative and not of, said holder section being scored to define connected holder panels and for foreshortening to erect said panels to form an article receiving and supporting means upstanding from the plane of said bottom section, said holder section having a lock-tongue projecting from a margin thereof, and said bottom section having a slit therein to receive said lock-tongue to thereby retain said holder section in foreshortened holder panel erecting condition.
