- the said element is constructed as a spring-pressed bolt, which co-operates with a slide member blocking the path of the firing pin in the secured position.
- the bolt possesses a disc, which is mounted in sliding fashion and rests in a corresponding recess in the slide. This disc rests on a fixed basefwhile in the other direction it is free, so that upon the movement of the bolt towards the rear under the force of acceleration it remains in the slide, but upon the forward movement of the bolt is also caused to be advanced. The slide member thus released is then able to move under the action of centrifugal or spring force out of the path of the ring pin.
- An arrangement of this kind has the advantage that the element securing the flring pin in indirect fashion is itself secured, not by another part but by reason of its position, from which the same can only be moved by the force of acceleration.

- a barrel safety device for a fuse comprising a plate. a safety slide slidable on the plate, a bolt, a locking member slidably mounted with friction on the bolt and extending into the slide to normally lock the slide from movement when the locking member is adjacent the plate, and a spring for the bolt, said locking member when the spring is energized by a backward movement of the bolt away from the slide being stationary but when the bolt moves in a forward direction toward the slide the member moves with the bolt to release the slide.
