Description

F. LOHREY DEVICE FOR PRINTING DESIGNS ON WALLS, SURFACES, OR THE LIKE Filed May 10, 1938 In vemor Patented July 11, 1939 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE SURFACES,
OR THE LIKE Friedrich Lohrey, Nuremberg, Germany Application May 10,
In Germany 3 Claims.
My invention relates to a device for printing designs on walls, surfaces or the like and consists of a design roller, a colour transferring roller and a colour body roller.
The devices for printing designs hitherto known have the drawback that a uniformity in the colour tone and the laying on of the colour can not be obtained.
According to my invention the device for printing designs is provided with a colour body roller consisting of one colour, two or more various coloured discs which are ranged on a common axle and are made of pressed Water colours or glue containing colours if necessary. Further the colour body roller may be constructed for one colour or it may be divided in sector strips of two or more colours.
The improved device assures the printing of various coloured designs and the manipulation is very simple and clean because no mixing of colours is necessary and the laying on of the colour is transferred to the periphery of the design roller from the colour body roller.
The invention is illustrated by way of example in the drawing in which Fig. 1 is a side view of the device for printing designs,
Fig. 2 is a plan view with the printing roller partly broken up,
Fig. 3 is a side view of a colour'body roller consisting of longitudinal strips of various colours.
The device for printing designs consists of a supporting frame equipped with a handle 2 and provided with round and slotted bearings receiving a design roller 3, a colour transferring roller 4 and a colour body roller 5. The printing roller 3 may be shaped smooth or provided with raised designs. By rolling over the surface the colour transferring roller 4 is turned which runs against the colour body roller 5.
The colour transferring roller is constructed in the form of a hollow cylinder 5 as liquid container provided with holes I and closed by a removable lateral cover. The roller cylinder carries an envelope of absorbing material preferably felt.
After filling the roller cylinder with clean water the device is ready for use. The operation is in such a manner that the colour transferring roller 4 takes the colour from the colour body roller 5 with its felt envelope moistened from inside and transfers it to the periphery of the printing roller 3. The latter prints the coloured.
1938, Serial No. 207,121
March 4, 1937 design on to the wall surface, over which it is rolled.
The colour body roller 5 is constructed one or more coloured and consists of various discs 50. ranged on a common axle or of various coloured discs. These are made of pressed water colours or glue containing colours, if necessary (Fig. 2).
According to Fig. 3 the colour body roller may consist of several sector strips 51). Also this roller may be constructed of one colour.
The solid colour body roller assures a uniform and even colour delivering to the transferring roller which continuously colours the printing roller in the same manner.
The absorbing envelope 4 of the transferring roller is preferably made of felt which conducts economically the liquid to the outside, so that a super-moistening is prevented and a uniformity in the colour tone and the laying on of the colour is assured.
Without changing the feature of the invention the device for printing designs may also be used for paper, card board, linoleum or the like.
What I claim is:
1. A device for printing designs on walls or other surfaces, consisting of a design- (printing-) roller, a colour transferring roller and a colour carrying roller, said colour carrying roller consisting of several parts of pressed watersoluble colour, the parts being of different colours and arranged on a common axle, said colour transferring roller consisting of a perforated cylinder adapted to take up water, and of a covering made of absorbing material.
2. A device for printing designs on walls or other surfaces, consisting of a design- (printing-) roller, a colour transferring roller and a colour carrying roller, said colour carrying roller consisting of several discs of pressed water-soluble colour, the discs being of different colours and arranged on a common axle, said colour transferring roller consisting of a perforated cylinder adapted to take up water, and of a covering made of absorbing material.
3. A device for printing designs on walls or other surfaces, consisting of a design- (printing) roller, a colour transferring roller and a colour carrying roller, said colour carrying roller consisting of several sector strips of pressed water-soluble colour, the strips being arranged on a common axle and being of different colours, said colour transferring roller consisting of a perforated cylinder adapted to take up water and of a covering made of absorbing material.
