Description
D B. REYNOLDS. 313001.,
No. 215,773. Patented May 2?, 1879.
W mm Inventor I j @MSMM UNITED STATES PATENT OEEIoE DAVIS B. REYNOLDS,'OF NEWV YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO DANIEL FOBES, OF-OAMBRIDGE, AND LYOURGUS BURNHAM, OF WOBURN, MASS.
IMPROVEMENT IN STOOLS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 215,773, dated May 27, 1879; application filed June 28, 1878.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, DAVIS B. REYNOLDS, of New York city, State of New York, have invented a new and useful Attachment for Camp- Stools and I hereby declare that the following specification and the accompanying drawin gs give a correct description of the same.
My invention relates to folding or detachable camp-stools of the tripod form the object of the same being to prevent the legs of the stool from spreading apart and breaking from the Weight of the person resting thereon.
The nature of my invention consists in connecting the feet of the tripod-stool to each other in a peculiar manner to be described.
Figure 1 is a perspective View of the device seen as applied to the feet of a tripod. Fig. 2 is a similar View of the device seen by itself, and Fig. 3 shows the manner of folding it into small compass for convenience of carrying.
Referring first to Fig. 1, each foot of the stool is furnished With an adjustable thimble, A, fitting over the same. To each thinible is fastened a strap or band, 13, (made preferably of thin elastic 1netal,) extendinginward to the center of the circle on the circumference of which stand the feet of the stool. The ends of the bands thus brought together are placed one above the other, and fastened loosely together by a single rivet, C.
When the apparatus is to be taken apart, the thimbles A are first slipped off the feet, and then the three bands 13 are folded together as closely as possible, so as to be easily carried. I prefer to make the three thimblcs A of graduated sizes, so as tofitinto each other, as in Fig. 3; but this is not essential.
Instead of the flat bands B described, Wires or cords suitably attached might be used.
I claim As an attachment for a tripod camp-stool, the combination of the three thilnbles A A A and the three bands B B B, the whole being DAVIS B. REYNOLDS.
Witnesses:
