To all whom z'tmayconcern( Be it knownthatlf, Tiiiofrnr MeGoiin- RICK, a citizen of the United States,"(resid ing aty Lincoln, in the county `of Grafton and State of New Hampshire, have invented certain new and useful Improvementsin `Arm-Cushions for Crutches and Fasteningfs`` Therefor, ofwhich the following Ais a speci` fication, reference being` had'to the accom-,t
panyingt drawings. y c y v t y l This invention relates t`o` an improved arm pit cushion for crutches, andone of the objects of the invention is to` provide a cushion` so constructed that it will readilyfit the arln` pit of the crutch, whereby `the user maybe afforded comfort. y h t A further object of theinvention is to provide an improved fastening for the opposite ends of the cushion, whereby the cushion 1,
may be securely connected to the lateral eX- tensions of the crutch. `Clhis fasteningis of such a character that the cushion may becas# ily and quickly connected to or detached from the crutch.` h
A further object of the invention is to provide a fastening; of this particular design, being; constructed from sheet metal-and "in the form of a frame socket, ,whichdctaehably receives the lateral extensions of the crutch.4 t 1. 1
A further obj et of the invention isfto so construct the fabric that forms the cushion, as to permit the cushion to set down in and conform to the arm pit of the crutch, thereby 'relieving the strain on the frame sockets or caps. l
While the design and construction at pres ent illustrated and set forth isdeemed preferable, it is obvious that as aresult of a reduction of the invention to a more practical form for commercial purposes, the invention may be susceptible to changes, and'the right y to these changes is clanned, provided they are comprehended within the scope of what is claimed.
The invention comprises further features and combination of parts, as will be hereinafter set forth, shown in the drawings and claimed.
In the drawings: U
Figure 1 is a perspectiveview of the upper portion of a crutch showing the improved cushion and fastening means as applied thereto.
Fig. 2 is an enlarged detail view of the cushion detached.

ings," 1 ldesignates -cushion which is` constructedtoset down in and conform to the arm pit ofthe crutch.` Thiscushion may be `coi'istructed ofany suitable` fabric, such as` velvet, plush, or the like, and comprises` upper and lower pieces 2 and 3 which are stitched together aswindicated at 4, so that;`
in between the upper and lower pieces suitable stuiling or padding 5 may be arranged, thereby providing a cushion. Attached to one `end of thecushion `in any suitable man! ner, for instance, `by means` ofu stitching, ,as
indicated" at Gis a frame socket7. Stitcln ing;7` which be of' heavy thread" passes through the t. fabric of- V.the cushion and throughfthe apertures or openings ofthe` parte of the frame .e socket, lto securely con-` neet the "socket to the cushion. This frame; socketwconsists of `two metallic straps 8 and 9. y metallicfstrap `8 isforrned intoa ring shape 'and has its ends soldered as indicated at 10, `thereby providing; a band, to surround ,one of `the extensions` 1,11` of i theucrutch. t, The
. metallic strap 9 is U-sliaped and has its end portions soldered or otherwise connected, as indicated at 12 to diametrically opposite portions of the band or ring. This metallic U-shaped strap straddles the end of one of the lateral extensions 11 to limit the insertion of the lateral extension through the band or ring, as shown in the drawings.
The other frame socket or cap` comprises a metallic plate` 13, which has apertures for the reception of stitchings or other fastening, as indicated at 14, whereby the plate may he securely connected to the opposite end of the cushion. A11 extension 15 projects from this plate and partially overlies the end of the other extension 11 of the crutch. A metallic strap 16 is hingedly connected to the extension strap 15 of said plate, as indicated at 17. This metallic strap 16 is provided with an elongated slot 18. The plate 13 has a lateral metallic extension strap 19 (which is somewhat pliable), and this extension strap 19 has a turn button 2O swivelly connected thereto in any suitable manner. The plate 13 is provided with a'third extension strap 21, to which as at 22, a meeferring moreespecially to the draw-` 'bunten may be manip@ milie- 'Si-,lrp 23 'is iiin-ge'diy Cnefted.
