7 Claims.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in advertising laundry c-ardboards.
More specically the invention proposes the construction of a laundry board, for holding a pressed shirt or other pressed article, imprinted on one or both of its faces with advertising matter.
Still further the invention proposes the construction of a board having an element which will arouse ones interest, in a certain portion of the advertising matter imprinted upon the cardboard.
For further comprehension of the invention, and of the objects and advantages thereof, reference Will be had to the following description and accompanying drawing, and to the appended claims in which the various novel features of the invention are more particularly set forth.
In the accompanying drawing forming a material part of this disclosure:
Fig. 1 is a front elevational View of a laundry cardboard constructed according to this invention.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the laundry cardboard.
Fig. 3 is a View similar to Fig. 1, but illustrating a different position of the parts.
Fig. 4 is an enlarged sectional view taken on the line 4-4 of Fig. 3.
Fig. 5 is an enlarged sectional view taken on the line 5-5 of Fig. 1.
The advertising laundry cardboard, according to this invention, comprises a laundry board section I for holding a pressed shirt or other article, and having advertising material II imprinted upon one of the faces thereof. The cardboard I0 is of conventional construction as is in common use for insertion into or upon pressed shirts when it is desired to fold them for delivery to a customer. When the customer removes the shirt from the cardboard lll the advertising matter will be brought into full view. A laundry board section I0 is pivotally connected at its upper end with the upper end of the section I0.
The section I0 is provided with a plurality of perforations I2, in its lower left-hand corner, dividing off a coupon I3'.
A means is associated with the cardboard section I0 for arousing the interest of the customer to certain portions of the advertising material II. This means comprises a continuous band I which encircles the body of the card I0 and which is slidably mounted thereon. A means is provided for urging this band I5 away from the interesting portion of the advertising mat- (Cl. L---61) ter and consists of a plurality of elastic bands IB which have one of their ends |68 xedly attached to the body portion of the cardboard Ill, and the other of their ends Ib fixedly attached to a portion of the band I5.
Aligned openings I'I are in the band I5 and the body I0 of the cardboard and a soft c-otter pin or similar pin 20 is passed through these openings. This pin is adapted to have its ends 20a' bent over after being inserted into the openings I'I to'prevent it from becoming accidentally displaced therefrom. When the head of the pin 2l] is gripped between ones iingers it may be withdrawn from the openings Il permitting the rubber bands I6 to move the slide I5 away from over the interesting portion of the board.
When the slide I5 moves away it will be noted that it exposes the bottom corner of the cardboard I Il which is provided with an auxiliary layer 2| which has three of its edges xedly attaohed to the body of the cardboard I0 and which has its free edge adjacent one of the edges of the board I0. This auxiliary member 2| has a window opening 22 through which the contents thereof may be viewed.
A post card 23 is inserted into the open end of the envelope formed by the auxiliary member 2| and is adapted to be withdrawn therefrom for the purpose of returning it to the person or iirm advertising on the laundry board Il! for receiving additional information concering the article or service advertised thereon. In other respects this form of the invention is similar to the previous forms.
While We have illustrated and described the preferred embodiment of our invention, it is to be understood that we do not limit ourselves to the precise construction herein disclosed and the right is reserved to all changes and modifications coming within the scope of the invention as delined in the appended claims.
Having thus described our invention, what we claim as new, and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent is:
1. An advertising laundry cardboard comprising a board, an element of the interest on said board, a member movably mounted on said board and normally covering said element, means for releasably holding said member fixed on said board, and resilient means for continually urging said member to a position removed from said element.
2. An advertising laundry cardboard comprising a board, an element of interest on said board, a member movably mounted on said board and normally covering said element, means for releasably holding said member xed on said board, and resilient means for continually urging said member to a position removed from said element, said element of interest comprising a card inserted into an envelope formed by an auxil` iary member having three of its edges Xedly attached to said board with its free edge adjacent one edge of said board.
3. An advertising laundry cardboard comprising a board, an element of interest on said board, a member movably mounted on said boar-d and normally covering said element, means for releasably holding said member fixed on said board, and resilient means for continually urging said member to a position removed from said element, said movably mounted member on said board comprising a continuous band engaging around said board.
4. An advertising laundry cardboard comprising a board, an element of interest on said board, a member movably mounted on said board and normally covering said element, means for releasably holding said member fixed on said board, and resilient means for continually urging said member to a position removed from said element, said movably mounted member on said board comprising a continuous band engaging around said board, said means for releasably holding said member in a xed position on said board comprising a pin engaging through aligned openings in said band and said board for restraining the action of said resilient means until said pin is removed from said openings.
5. An advertising laundry cardboard comprising a board, an element of interest on said board, a member movably mounted on said board and normally covering said element, means for releasably holding said member xed on said board,
and resilient means for continually urging said member to a position removed fromsaid element, said movably mounted member on said board comprising a continuous band engaging around said board, said means for releasably holding said member in a xed position on said board comprising a pin engaging through aligned openings in said band and said board for restraining the action of said resilient means until said pin is removed from said openings, said resilient means comprising a plurality of elastic bands having one of their ends xedly attached to said board at a point above said element of interest and the other of their ends xedly attached to said band so that when said pin is removed said elastic bands Will urge said continuous band to a position remote from said element of interest.
6. In an advertising laundry cardboard, a board, a pocket formed in one corner of said board, an element of interest inserted into said pocket and viewable through a front opening formed in said pocket, and means for covering said opening to hide said element of interest and arouse ones interest.
7. In an advertising laundry cardboard, a board, a pocket formed in one corner of said board, an element of interest inserted into said pocket and viewable through a front opening formed in said pocket, and means for covering said opening to hide said element of interest and arouse ones interest, means for holding said means xed in a position extended across said opening, and means for urging said rst-mentioned means away from said opening to expose the same When said second-mentioned means is released.
