One of the primary objects of my inventionA is to provide a package in which the entire contents thereof will be exposed to the view of the purchaser in an attractive manner land still be kept in a fresh and sanitary condition.

Another salient object of my invention is to provide a package for loose candies and nuts embodying a librous ple plate for holding the goods to be dispensed, and a transparent cover for the plate, whereby the goods will be displayed,

with means for holding the transparent sheet or cover in intimate contact with the peripheral flange of the plate to maintain the goods in a fresh and sanitary condition.

A still further object of my invention is to provide a novel package of the above character for dispensing candies and nuts in small quantities,

' which will 'be durable and emcient in use, one that will be simple and easy to manufacture, and

one winch can be placed upon the market at a' small cost.

Referring to the drawing in detail, wherein similar reference characters designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, the letter P generally indicates my improved paclrim age, which is particularly designed for dispensing loose candies and nuts, but which is adaptable for serving any pastry or confection over a counter.

The portion of material struck out from the center ci the ring is placed on top oi the bottom wall of the plate to substantially hide the rough appearance of the plate after the contents of the package has been used. This portion is shown at ll in Figures 3 and i. Both the retaining ring and the portion struct: out from the center of the ring can carryl any preferred type of advertising rnatter.

The retaining ring is adapted to be secured to the peripheral flange t of the pie plate by means ot wire staples t, and these staples are adapted to extend through the ring, the cellophane sheet so l, and the flange t. I

In order to center the rings on the pie plates and to facilitate the drawing of the rings down tight on the flange and to prevent the tearingl out ci the staples, I form integral with the margg liti ginal edge of the ring 8 tabs or tongues l0. As shown in Figure 3, the tabs I0 can engage the edge of the flange and thus guide 'the ring in place on the plate. These tabs i0 are adapted to be folded under the flange, and when the staples 9 are driven home the tabs tend to draw down on the ring, and as the wire staples pass through the tabs, the tabs reinforce the package and prevent the accidental tearing out of the staples.

From the foregoing description it can be seen that I have provided an exceptionally simple and attractive package for dispensing loose candies and nuts over a counter.

Changes in details may be made without departing from the spirit or the scope of this invention, but what I claim as new is:
