(CL 118-38) The present invention relates to high speed spinning machines provided with sliversucking devices and a rotating pot, characterized by inducing a fluid in the" sucking devices to make a spiral, helical or like rotating movement with respect to the drawing mechanism or front rollers of the spinning machine. Spinning machines of centrifugal type heretofore used have been adapted to reel artificial silk threads into rotating pots. and have also been utilized directly as twisting and general spinning machines in the manner of mules or ring spinning frames. But if such machines were utilized for spinning cotton or woolen yarn, it has been found diilicult to guide the sliver which is to be spun into the pot, and it has also been found that if the sliver is broken or scattered before. or at the momentit reaches the pot, it cannot be spun. 'Thusfor these reasons, spinning machines of the centrifugal type-using the pot system are not entirely practical for producing threads of these materials.
Now, according to the present invention, peri feet and practical spinning is effected by passing a fluid through a guide vane to induce automatic high speed rotation of the fluid thereimand then sucking the silver into said rotating fluid so as to rotate the latter, thereby giving some twist to the sliver by the rotating action of the fluid to form a partly formed thread and to increase its tension in order to prevent it from being broken or scattered before, or at the instant it reaches the pot.
The object of the inventiontis to provide a spinning machine whose efllciency is increased by permitting high speeds, and alsoa machine in which the necessity of piecing threads, if they are broken during spinning, is obviated.
The appended drawing shows a vertical section through one embodiment of the present invention in operation. In said drawing i is the delivery roller, 2 a coacting top roller, 3 a drawn sliver, 4-

I2 is the inlet for a fluid, I 3 the holder for the sliver sucking device, 14 a support for the holder, IS the rotatable pot, l8 the cake, and it the edge of the thread guide tube.
According to this invention, the spinning machine is provided with sliver sucking devices 4, B, B, and 1, and a pot l5 which have the characteristic feature of inducing the fluid in pipe 1 to make a spiral, helical or like rotative movement (hereafter called simply a rotative 'movement) with respect to the drawing mechanism which comprises the front rollers land 2 so that the spinning maybe effected by sucking the sliver 3 delivered from between the front rollers'land 2 into the sucking devices and discharging the same into the rotating pot i5, giving said sliver preliminary twist. v
, The sliver sucking device is provided with guide vanes 6 opposite the lower endof the sliver sucking tube 4, said vanes being also disposed around the. periphery of the upper end of guide tube I.
An open air chamber 5 is provided above the vanes 6 between the tubes 4 and 1. Unlike previouslyused apparatus, in this invention fluid is not poured into a sliver sucking tube, but the compressed fluid is introduced into the air chamber I from the inlet I 2 and is given a rotative movement upon passing through the guide vanes 6, so that the fluid will flow along the inner wall of the guide tube 1 by centrifugal force produced therein, to cause rarefaction of the fluid at the center of said tube, whereby the air in the sucking tube 4 is sucked into tube 1, and,accordingly the drawn sliver 3 delivered from rollers l and 2 is automatically sucked into the tubes 4 and I and is given a twist to form a thread 8, after which it is discharged into rotating pot I! to be finely spun,
and then reeled therein in the form of a cake IS.
The sucking devices 4, 5, 6, and! not only give a desired rotative movement to the fluid in tube 1 due to the, stream guiding vanes 6 in the path of the fluid, but also cause sliver sucking action in the hopper-shaped chamber 5 at the upper part, so as to automatically suck said sliver and conduct it into the rotating fluid in the tube 'lwhere it is twisted'into the condition of a partly formed thread, preventing the fibre from scattering about, and the sliver is then discharged into the rotating pot l5 and spun, after which it is. reeled along the inner wall of the pot in such a way as to form a bundle or cake IS.
The drawing mechanism may be provided with means (not shown) for stopping, when necessary, rotation of the middle rollers 9 and i0 and the back roller II with respect to the front rollers I 4 and 2, thus stopping delivery of the sliver 3 while removing a bundle or"cake l6 of thread from the pot l5.
Thus,' as compared with the. "Ring" spinning machines now in use, my novel machine is much better adapted for high-speed spinning since the tension of the thread during spinning is not only as uniform as possible, but also the thread during spinning is enveloped by the fluid 5' in the tube I which has the same rotating and advancing movements as the thread during the latters passage through the sucking devices. Moreover, the trouble of piecing threads, when broke, during spinning is obviated, resulting in a remarkable improvement in efliciency. If a thread is broken during spinning, there is no necessity of piecing or joining it, since the sliver 3 is spun while 'enveloped in the rotating fluid 5' in the guide tube 1, which fluid travels in the same direction as the sliver, and thus there is no possibility of scattering or separating the fibres. the chance of breaking the thread, but also performs the spinning operation with substantially uniform tensile strength.
The tension applied to the spun thread is chiefly due to the action of the fluid and the centrifugal force of the rotating thread extending from mouth l8 at the lower end of the sucking device to the interior of the pot or bundle. The former may readily be kept constant easily, while the latter is gradually decreased with the change of the inner diameter of the bundle, but may be kept constant by a corresponding increase in the rotation of the pot l5. Thus in my machine, as the spinning action is made in a fluid having the same rotating and advancing movements as the thread, my machine has decided advantages over the Ring spinning machines, as it considerably diminishes the chances of breaking a thread, and prevents the scattering of the fibres.
I claim:
1. In a high speed spinning machine having a sliver drawing mechanism and having a sliver sucking device and having a rotatable pot; means for introducing fluid into said sucking device; and means in the sucking device for imparting to the fluid therein rotating and advancing movements whereby said fluid will envelop the sliver and cause initial twisting of the sliver within the sucking device.
2. In a machine as set forth in claim 1, said This not only reduces imparting means comprising fluid directing vanes in the sucking device.
3. In combination with a machine as set forth in claim 1, means for stopping the drawing mechanism to interrupt the delivery of the sliver to the sucking device.
4. In a high speed spinning machine having a sliver drawing mechanism and having a sliver sucking device and having a rotatable pot; means for introducing fluid under pressure into said sucking device; and means in the sucking device for centrifugalizing said fluid therein while imparting thereto an advancing movement; whereby said fluid will envelop the sliver and cause initial twisting of the sliver within the sucking device.
5. In a machine as set forth in claim 4, said imparting means comprising fluid directing vanes in the sucking device.
6. In combination with a machine as set forth in claim 4, means for stopping the drawing mechanism to interrupt the delivery of the sliver to the sucking device.
7. In a high speed spinning machine having a sliver drawing mechanism and having a silver sucking device and having a rotatable pot; means for introducing fluid under pressure into said sucking devices; and means in the sucking devices for imparting to the fluid therein a helical movement causing rarefaction of the air at the center of the sucking device; said fluid enveloping the sliver and causing initial twisting of the sliver within the sucking device.
8. In a machine as set forth in claim I said imparting means comprising fluid directing vanes in the sucking device.
9. In combination with a machine as set forth in claim 7, means for stopping the drawing mechanism to interrupt the delivery of the sliver t0 the sucking device.
