Description
March 29, 1938. B. p 2,112,409
BATHTUB Filed Dec. 7, 1956 Inventor iezyifm'noa,
Patented Mar. 29, 1938 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 3 Claims.
This invention relates broadly to bathtubs and more particularly to a bathtub designed for use in bathing infant children.
Briefly the invention consists in the provision of a bathtub which may be placed in the usual bathtub and which is characterized by an inflatable rim structure whereby provision is made for causing the tub to float in the water contained in the usual bathtub or the like.
A further object of the invention is to provide a bathtub the walls of which are perforated so that the tub-water will be made use of for filling the bathtub of the invention to a suitable level.
The invention together with its objects and advantages will be best understood from a study of the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing wherein:-
Figure 1 is a top plan view of the improved tub.
Figure 2 is aside elevational view thereof.
Figure 3 is a fragmentary detail sectional view through a portion of the tub.
Referring to the drawing by reference numerals it will be seen that the tub indicated generally by the reference numeral 5 is of suitable dimension and includes a bottom wall 6, side and end walls 1 and an integral rim 8 at the upper edges of the walls 1.
The walls 6 and 1 are perforated as at 9.
The rim 8 is tubular in form and at one vend of the tub said rim is provided with an inflating valve l0.
At a relatively opposite end of the tub there is formed integral with the rim 8 an inflatable ornament II which latter may simulate, for example, and as shown, the head and neck of a duck or the like.
It will thus be seen that with the rim 8 and ornament ll inflated, the tub, when placed in 5 water will float, and some of the water in which the tubis placed will flow through the openings 9 to fill the tub to a suitable water level.
Thus a tub having the features of the present invention may be readily placed in the usual 10 and end walls, said rim being inflatable and 20 provided at one end with an inflating valve, and said walls and rim being formed solely of rubber.
2. A bathtub composed entirely of rubber and comprising perforated bottom, side and end walls, an inflatable rim integral with the upper edges of the side and end walls, and an inflatable ornament integral with said rim and one end of the tub and common inflating means for the rim and ornament.
3. A bathtub composed entirely of rubber and 30 comprising perforated bottom, side and end walls, and an integral inflatable rim surrounding said side and end walls and disposed entirely on the outer surface of said walls.
