An objectof' this invention isto provide a garment of the character described, having a quickly detachable lining provided with an integral collar.

Another object ofthis invention is to provide a sleeved garment provided with cuffs 'on' the sleeves, detachable from the sleeves and adapted to be `attached `at the neck of the garment and together forma collar for said garment.

Yet another object of this invention is to provide an ensembleconsisting of a coat, a detachable light lining attachable thereto to match the dress worn under the coat, and having integral trimmings at the neck and cuffs, matching the dress and adapted 'to be exposed when the lining is used, and av second lining adapted to replace the first lining and made of a heavier or warmer material and provided with an integral collar adapted to fold over the neck portion of the coat; whereby said coat may beworn without either lining, or with the light lining, or with'the heavy lining, depending upon the weather or the occasion. l

A still further object of this invention is to provide av neat and attractive garment of the character described, which shall be inexpensive to manufacture, which may be executed in many varied attractive designs, and which is yet practical and efficient to a high degree.

Referring now in detail to the drawing, I0 designates a basic garment or coat on a figure I l and provided with sleeves I2 and being split down the front. Detachably attached to the linside of the coat is a supplementary garment or lining I5. The lining I5 likewise has sleeve portions I6 disposed within the sleeves I2 of the coat.` The vsleeve portion I6 is /provided with an integral collar trim I'I adapted to be exposed at the neck of the wearer when the lining is worn with the coat. Cuff trims I8 may also be stitched to the ends of the sleeve linings I6, said trims I8 likewise being exposed when the coat and lining are worn. The lining I5 with its sleeves I6 are detachably attached to the coat by slider 'actuated fastener means I9 extending around the front split edgesof the garment as at 20, around the neck of the garment as at 2|, below the trim I1, and at the cuffs or ends of the sleeves I2 as at 22 short of the trims I8.

The lining I5 may be made of a light material,

such as silk, similar to or matching the material of the dress 25 worn beneath the coat. The bot-` view taken Athrough one of the sleeves of the jacket shown in tom edge of the dress may be provided with a trim 26 matching the collar trim I1 and cuff trims I8. When the coat I0 is open somewhat at the front to expose the lining I5, a harmonious effect will be produced because the lining'material is the same as or matches the dress material 25 which may be seen at' the front where the coat is opened up. The trimming Il may be in the form of a collar and may be made of any suitable material, such as silk, lace, linen, or the like material. The trim I1 may also fold over the neck portion 28 of the coat. When the lining I5 is used, the trim I1, IB have the appearance of being part of the coat I0.

To attach the lining I0 to the coat, the slider 30 which remains on one of the slider actuated fastener portions, engages the other complementary fastener portion, and then is moved upwardly on one side of the coat, around the neck line, and then down the other.

It will now be understood that the coat I0 may be worn alone without the lining and may also be worn with the lining I5, depending upon the weather and the suitability for the occasion.

It will now be understood that I have provided a basic garment and a supplementary garment within said basic garment and serving as a lining therefor. The basic garment and the supplementary garment are of substantially the same width and have approximately the same neck configuration and both are open at the front. It will now also be understood that the marginal edges of the supplementary garment extend to the complementary marginal edges of the basic garment, being detachably connected thereto along their front marginal edges and neck portions by complementary fasteners.

For colder weather the lining I5 may be removed and replaced with a lining of a heavier or warmer material, such as wool, or any other suitable lining material. The lining 40 is similar to the lining I5 except that it is provided with a heavy fur collar 4I which folds over the neck portion 28 of the coat I Il. The lining 40 is also provided with sleeve portions received within the sleeves I2 ofr the coat and is attached tothe coat by slider actuated fastener means I9 around the 40 edges of the lining below the collar 4I and at the ends of the sleeve portions of the lining. 'Ihe collar 4I has the appearance of being part of the coat. y

It will now be understood that the coat I0 may 4,5 be worn either alone or with a light lining I5,

or with a heavy lining 40. 'Ihe ensemble is thus suitable for travel or cruise, and eliminates necessity for a number of separate coats or outfits.

In Fig. 9 there is shown a jacket 5I) provided with sleeves 5I having linings 52. At the ends of the sleeve linings I2 are slider actuated fastener portions 53. Attached to the sleeve linings 52 are furred cuffs 54 having slider actuated i fastener portions 55 united to the fastener portion 53 by usual slider. The jacket 50 may be provided with a collar 56 having a lining 51. Attached to the'lining 51 around the edge of the collar is a slider actuated fastener portion 58. The slider actuated portion 58 is made in two symmetrical sections each beginning at the front and terminating in a stop 59 at the back of the neck. The cuffs 54 may be detached from the sleeves and attached to the collar 55 one on each side, the cui portions 54 together forming a collar for the jacket 50. When the furred cuffs are worn, a coat cannot be worn over the jacket, but when the cuffs are attached to the collar, a coat may be worn over the jacket and the collar (composed of the two cuffs) has the appearance of being a collar for the coat.

'I'he cuffs 54 may also be attached in similar manner to a separate coat 60, as shown in Fig. 13. The wearer may thus have a jacket 50 and a coat 60. When the jacket 50 is worn, the cuffs 54 are worn on the sleeves. When the coat 60 is worn, the cuffs 54 are attached to the collar and together form a furred collar for the coat 60.

In each instance where slider actuated fasteners are mentioned, it will be understood that the same may be replaced by snap fasteners, buttons, or other quickly detachable fasteners.

Although the collar 4I is illustrated in the drawings as being stitched to the lining 40, it will be understood that the collar may be detachably atatached to the lining by snap fasteners, slider actuated. fastener means, or any other suitable quickly detachable fastener.

The lining for the jacket of Fig. 9 may also be removably attached to the jacket with the cuffs 54 detachably attached to the lining, either on the sleeves or at the collar.

It will thus be seen that there is provided a device in which the several objects of this invention are achieved, and which is well adapted to meet the conditions of practical use.

As various possible embodiments might be made of the above invention, and as various changes might be made in the embodiments above set forth, it is to be understood that all matter herein set forth or shown in the accompanying drawings is to be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting sense.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:

1. A coat and lining having cooperating fastener means substantially at their neck lines, and a collar carried on the neck of the lining and protruding beyond the neck of the` coat and beyond said fastener and being exposed to View.

2. A garment having a pair of .collar members forming a complete collar, each member being independently detachably carried by the neck portion of the garment, each of said members when detached forming a cuff member detachably attachable to a sleeve of a garment.

3. A garment having a neck portie-n, a set of fastener members on each side of the neck portion, and a two part collar, said parts having fas-y tener members, one being complementary to one set of fastener members, and the other being lcgmplementary to the other set of fastener mem- 4. 5. In combination, a basic garment and a supplementary garment within said basic garment and serving as a. lining therefor, said garments being detachably attached together by complementary fastener portions at the front and around the necklines of said garments whereby said garments may be worn together as a single garment, said basic garment being wearable alone independently of said supplementary garment, said supplementary garment having portions extending beyond the fastener portions thereof and protruding froml said basic garment and being visible when said garments are worn together, said supplementary garment being a complete garment in itself and Wearable as such separately apart from the basic garment, said basic garment being collarless and said protruding portion of said supplementary garment being at the neckline thereof and constituting a collar, being folded back over the neckline of said basic garment, and having the appearance of being a collar on said basic garment.

6. In combination, a basic garment and a supplementary garment Within said basic garment and serving as a lining therefor, said garments being detachably attached together by complementary fastener 'portions at the fro-nt and around the necklines of said garments whereby y said garments may be Worn together as a single garment, said basic garment being wearable alone independently of said supplementary garment, said supplementary garment having portions extending beyond the fastener portions thereof and protruding from said basic garment and being visible when said garments are Worn together, said supplementary garment being a complete garment in itself and wearable as such separately. apart from the .basic garment, both of said garments having integral sleeves and means for def tachably attaching the ends of said sleeves together.

8. In combination, a basic garment and a supplementary garment within said basic garment f and serving as a lining therefor, a line of fasteners on said basic garment substantially at the edge thereof, said supplementary garment having a complementary line of fasteners at its edge except at certain regions where said complementary fasteners are set back a substantial distance from the edge of said supplementary garment, the fasteners on said garments, when engaged causing said supplementary lining to form aprotruding and visible portion.

9. In combination, a basic garment and a supplementary garment within said basic garment and serving as a lining therefor, said garments being detachably attached together by" complementary fastener portions at the front and around the necklines of said garments whereby said garments may be worn together as a single garment,

Inl combination, a coat having back. and. front portions, a lining therefor detachably attached thereto along the edge portions of the coat, and a collar on said lining protruding from the neck of the coat and being exposed to view when the coat and, lining are worn together, said collar being folded back over the neck of the coat, said lining being wearable independently of the coat, and being a garment complete in itself when so worn. f

11. In combination, a

12. In combination, a basic garment and a supplementary garment within said basic garment and serving as a lining therefor, said garments having front and back'portions and being detachably attachedtogether by complementary fastener portions arranged along the edge portions of the basic garment and on the inner opposed faces ofthe basic and supplementary garments and being concealed from view by said garments, whereby said garments may be worn together as a. single garment, said basic garment being wearable alone independently of said supplementary garment, said supplementary garment being a complete garment in itself and 'wearable as such separately apart from the basic garment, superimposed portions of said basic and supplementary garments adjacent attached together edges thereof being foldable back together over the basic garment to expose a portion of the supplementary when said garments are worn together, without exposing the inner surface of the basic garment.

13. In combination, a basic garment and a supplementary garment within said basic garment and serving as a lining therefor, said garments being of substantially the same width and having approximately the same neckV configuration and being open at the front, the marginal edges of the supplementary garment extending to the complementary marginal edges of the basic garment and being detachably connected thereto along their front marginal edges and neck portions by complementary fasteners.
