IMPROVEMENT IN STOCKING-SUPPORTERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 210,-6466, dated December 10, 1878; application iiled October 11, 1878.
To all whom, if may concern:
Be it known that I, F. BARTON BROWN, of Boston, in the county of Suiolk and State ot' Massachusetts, have invented an Improved Article for Supporting Stockings, and other like purposes, ot' which the following is a full, clear, concise, and exact description, reference beinig had to the accompanying drawings, making a part hereof.
In the drawings, Figure l is a view ot' my device not in use. Fig. 2 shows it in use, and Fig. 3 shows a slight modification of it.
A represents an elastic webbing; B, a hook secured to it at one end; D, a buckle for adjusting the length ofthe webbing A 5 C, a cord which passes through the loop in the webbing A, and to which is fastened a clasp, E. It is this contrivance which constitutes my invention.
The device is applied as shown in the drawings, from which it will-be clear that the constriction around the leg (or the arni when it is used for shortening the shirt-sleeve) dopends largely upon the amount of pull upon the clasp E, and that this constriction is very slight when the pull is slight, as it is always when the device is used as a stocking-supporter.
Wlhen two clasps are preferred they are best attached as shown in Fig. 3, although, as is obvious, two may be attached to the cord when its ends are joined together.
The gist ot' my invention consists in theuse of the cord G as a means for connecting together the two ends of the webbing A, and also for connecting the clasp E (or other device for holding the stocking or sleeve) with the webbing A, the cord C- constituting a exible rendering connection between the ends ot the webbing A.
What I claim as my invention is The webbing A and clasp E, in combination with the cord C, the cord C adapted not only to connect together the ends of the webbing A, but also to connect the clasp E with the webbing A, all as described.
