Description

Dec. 21, 1937. D. MARINSKY SLIDER FOR SEPARABLE FASTENERS Filed Sept. 10, 1955 flywr-m'ron v D v/s ARM/513v ATTORNE? Patented Dec, 21, 1931 SLIDEB FOR SEPARABLE FASTENERS Davis Marlnsky, Bronx, N. Y., assignor to Whitehall Patents Corporation, New York, N. Y., a corporation of New York Application September 10, 1935 Serial No. 39,908
'8 Claims.
This invention relates to separable slide fas-' 10 an integrally formed hook portion which is fashioned to form a coupling loop with which a finger piece or pull may be quickly and easily attached, and by means of which the operation of .attaching the finger piece or pull is facilitated; and
16 with this and other objects in view, the invention consists in a device of the class and for the purpose'specified, which is simple in construction, efficient in use, and which is construoted as hereinafter described and claimed.
The invention is fully disclosed in the following specification, of which the accompanying drawing forms a part, in which the separate par of my improvement are designated by suitable reference characters in each of the views, and
in which:
Fig. 1 is a plan view of a part of a separable fastener showing one of my improved sliders thereon and indicating one method of its use.
Fig. 2, is a view similar to Fig. 1, eliminating part of the construction and on an enlarged scale.
Fig. 3 is a partial section on the line 3-3 of Fig. 2.
v Fig. 4 is a viewsimilar to slight modification; and,
Fig. 5 is a side view of a slider detached with a part thereof in normal or open position.
In the accompanying drawing, I have indicated at I and II two stringers'of a separable fastener having coupling links or elements I2 and I! attached to adjacent beaded edges Ila, Ila respectively. At I4, I have indicated an end stop for limiting the movement of a slider or rider I in onevdirection on the links I2, I3 of the stringers.
The slider I5 is Fig. 1 showing a preferably formed from a single die cast body consisting of an upper side plate I6 and lower side plate I! joined by a substantially V-shaped web I8 at one end of the slider and to form at said end of the slider diverging channels I! and which join each other within the body and through the reduced end portion U of the slider as in'other devices of this kind. The side edges I6a, Ila, are turned inwardly adjacent each other to form flanges which serve to urge the links I2 and I3 toward each other and to hold said links in coupled relation within the reduced end portion 2|. Formed integrally with the top plate iii of the slider is a hookshaped finger piece supporting member 22, the end portion 22a of which extends normally in a plane substantially parallel to the surface of the top plate and in the direction of the reduced end portion 2| of the rider in the manner indicatedin Fig. 5 of the drawing.
In the construction shown in Figs. 1 to inclusive, I have indicated a pull chain 23 in the form of a single chain element having a ring or eye 24 at one end and a large ball or knob 25 at the other end. Whereas, in Fig. 4 of the drawing, the finger piece or pull 23a. differs from that shown in the other figures simply in employing a longer ball-like chain having two loops or eyes 24a. at the ends and a ball 25a arranged centrally of the chain. The chain 23a. forms a ring or loop through which the finger of the hand may be passed in the operation of the slider.
The slider and stringers shown in Fig. 4 are of the-same structure as that shown in Fig. 1, and therefore, like references will designate like parts. It will be understood that the slider is die cast substantially in the manner shown in Fig. 5 of the drawing, it being understood that in some cases, the side flanges I6a, Ila will be shaped or extended inwardly by suitable dies after the casting operation. However, in coupling the finger piece or pull with the hook 22 of the rider, the loop or eye of the pull, or in other words, the apertured piece 24, 24a, is passed over. the end portion 220. of the hook when in the position indicated in Fig. 5 of the drawing, after which the end portion 22a is forced downwardly upon the upper surface of the top plate I6 to form the'closed coupling loop shown. which retains the pull against displacement from the slider and at the same time, permits the free swinging movement of the finger piece so as to, extend in the direction shown in' Figs. 1, 2 and 3 of the drawing in the operation of opening the fastener as well as in a position directly opposite that shown, which position will be assumed by the finger piece in the operation of closing the fastener. In other words, it is preferred that the finger piece or pull operate upon the permanently attached end of the loop 22 when the slider is operated under the stress of closing -Still further, by virtue of the formation of the slider from a unitary body of die cast material,-
the same may be produced very economically.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
