SEALING DEVICE Filed July 22, 1955 lj faar lNvENToR ATTORNEY Patented Dec. 7, 1937 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE Application July 22,
1 Claim.
This invention relates to sealing devices and more particularly to a device for moistening adhesive of envelopes, securing tapes and the like and has for the primary object the provision of a device of this character which is convenient to handle or use to moisten adhesive and which may be readily replenished with liquid and may be readily closed to prevent evaporation of the liquid and protect the liquid applying medium from dirt and other foreign matter.
With these and other objects in view, this invention consists in certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
For a complete understanding of my invention, reference is to be had to the following description and accompanying drawing, in which Figure l is a. vertical sectional view showing a sealing device with the cover removed and in operative position for applying liquid.
Figure 2 is a sectional view taken on the line 2-2 of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a vertical sectional view showing the sealing device closed.
Figure 4 is a sectional view taken on the line 4-4 of Figure 3.
Referring in detail to the drawing, the numeral I indicates a container of tube formation having one end internally threaded to receive the screw threaded portion 2 of a combined plug and rest 3, the latter being shouldered, as shown at 4, to

be abutted by the open end of a cover 5 when applied to the container. The container has a portion thereof restricted into a substantially rectangular shape to form a throat 6 in which is mounted a wick I, the latter protruding a slight 5 distance from the throat and to permit liquid to be applied to adhesive by a brushing or wiping action. To prevent the liquid from seeping out of the tube during non-use, the plug is rested on the support or with the wick disposed the upper- 10 most. The cover 5 may be placed over the tube and wick and brought in frictional contact with the shouldered portion of the plug to seal and thereby prevent evaporation of the liquid.
To replenish the container with liquid the plug 15 3 is removed.
Having described the invention, I claim:
A sealing device for a container having open opposite ends, and a dispensing means in one end of the container, comprising interior threads carried by the opposite end of the container, and a plug threaded into said opposite end of the container, said plug including a knurled flange having a diameter greater than the diameter of the plug, and a cylindrical cover supporting shoulder integral with the plug and disposed between the flange and the outer end of the plug, said shoulder having a diameter less than the flange and greater than the diameter of the adjacent end of the container.
