This invention relates to holders for dental film packets and has for its object the production of a holder of stretchable material having on one face pockets to receive the corners of the packet and on the other face a bite wing integral therewith and perpendicular thereto.

One object of the invention is to provide a holder which may be used repeatedly and may be sterilized each time it has been used, preparatory for further use.

Another object is the provision of means whereby the packet may be quickly positioned on the front face of the holder and retained immovably thereon.

These objects are attained by the constructions of holder illustrated in the accompanying drawing.

For the purpose of illustrating the invention, two preferred forms thereof are illustrated in the drawing, these forms having been found to give satisfactory and reliable results, although it is to be understood that the various instrumentalities of which the invention consists can be variously arranged and organized, and the invention is not limited to the precise arrangement and organization of these instrumentalities as herein shown and described except as required by the scope of the appended claims.

Similar characters indicate like parts throughout the several figures of the drawing.

In the drawing, I0 is a plate of stretchable material such as vellum rubber.

On the front face of this plate l0 are a plurality of pockets H integral therewith and adapted to receive the corners of a standard film packet l2.

The plate 10 and pockets H are sufficiently 55 flexible to permit them to be stretched and the pockets bent rearwardly when positioning a packet l2 therein, and when the corners of this packet l2 are disposed in the pockets H said packet I2 is firmly held against the plate l0 and is immovable thereon.

These pockets H preferably extend beyond the borders I3 of the packet l2 as shown in the drawing.

When the packet I2 is disposed in the pockets II, the inner face of these pockets will impinge upon the corners of the packet and hold the packet firmly in position.

Formed integral with the plate I 0 is a bite wing l4 extending from the rear of the plate In and perpendicular thereto.

This wing may be disposed relatively to the plate I 0 either in the position shown in Figs. 1 to 4 inclusive, or it may be disposed relatively to the plate l0 in the position indicated in Figs. 5 to 8 inclusive.

While the bite wing I4 is disposed preferably midway between opposite edges of said plate, it is self-evident that the bite wing 14 may be disposed otherwise nearer one edge than the other if particular work to be done necessitates such change in position.

By making the holder of vellum rubber or some similar material the holder may be used repeatedly by sterilizing the same after each operation.

Ordinarily the packets l2 are of standard construction and sold without a bite wing.

When these packets are provided with a bite wing the cost thereof is greatly increased, and it is highly desirable to reduce this additional expense to the dentists.

This reduction in expense to the dentist is assured by the present construction of holder as it may be used over and over again.

Moreover, in constructing a holder such as shown in the drawing for a standard film packet, this packet is more readily positioned on the holder and is retained immovably thereon.

By this construction of holder it is quite evident that the upper and lower teeth may be X-rayed simultaneously.

As the holder is molded from a stretchable material, it is adapted for use on packets varying in size.

It is believed that the operation and many advantages. of the invention will be readily understood without further description.

Having thus described my invention, I claim 1. A holder for dental film packets consisting of a fiat rectangular plate of stretchable material having on its front face and at opposite ends thereof a plurality of walled pockets to receive the corners of a standard film packet.

2. A holder for dental film packets consisting of a flat rectangular plate of stretchable material having on its front face and at opposite ends thereof a plurality of triangular walled pockets to receive the corners of a standard film packet, said pockets extending beyond the border of said plate.

3. A holder for dental film packets consisting of a molded rectangular plate of stretchable rubber having integral therewith triangular walled corner pockets on one face and a bite wing on its 5 opposite face. 7
