Description

G. w. BROWN. Razor-Strep.
' No. 208,068. v Patgn ted s t,1z,11 s?8 INVENTOR WITNESSES: S k/ww I Y W/ M ATTORNEYS;
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
GEORGE W. BROVN, OF CUMBERLAND MILLS, (WESTBR OOKQ MAINE.
IMPROVEMENT IN RAZOR-STRO'PS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 208,068, dated September 17, 1878; application filed June 3, 1878.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it'known that I, GEORGE W. BROWN,
' of Cumberland Mills, (Westbroolg) in the county of Cumberland and State of Maine, have invented a new and Improved Razor- Strop, of which the following is a. specification: 1
In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 represents a front view, and Fig. 2 a vertical transverse section on line a: x, of my improved razor-strop.
Similar letters. of reference indicate corresponding parts. 7
The invention consists in so arranging a spring-roll and friction-roll with'respect to each other and an opening in the case that the working-face of strop cannot come in contact with the surface of either roll.
Referring to the drawing, A represents a case, of wood or other suitable material, that is attached to the wall of the room by means of top and bottom screws, or otherwise. To the interior of the case is pivoted a roller, B, to which a coiled spring is attached at one end, the opposite end of the spring being attached to the case.
A razor-strop, 0, is attached to the springactuated roller B, so as to be wound up or to the same by the action of the spring. The strop 0 passes upward and over a frictionroll, D, through a slot or opening, a, to the outside of the case.
A second friction-roll may be employed above the strop to act on the surface of the same, so as to prevent the scraping and rough ening of the surface of the same.
The strop O is provided at the outer end with a handle, 0, of sufficient size, by which the strop is readily pulled out for use, the same being wound up by the spring-roller, when released, until the handle forms contact with the case. 7
When the strop is drawn back and. stored in the case by the spring-actuated roll, it is fully protected against dust and dirt, and always ready for stropping the razors in a superior manner.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent The combination, with a flexible razor-strop, (J, of the case A, having front slot, a, the spring-roll B below said slot, and the antifriction roll D, the latter in a cavity of said case opposite the slot, the non-workin g face of the strop being applied to both the spring and the anti-friction roll, as and for the purpose specified.
GEORGE WARREN BROWN.
