Wilhelm Karl Naundori, Scheveningen, Netherlands Application July 28, 1936, Serial No. 93,041
I In Germany October 15, 1935 This invention relates to a bathing cap oil the kind provided with an inflatable tube arranged inside the cap around the edge thereof for ensuring a watertight closure between the cap and the head.
The object of the invention is to eflect the improvements enabling the cap to be worn without discomfort and with more than usual convenience, and the invention consists essentially in providing the crown of the cap with an inside pocket for the reception of the inflating ball a1- lowing the latter to be operated through the cap.
Moreover, in order to prevent the tube, in the case of hard inflation, from bearing against the head in an uncomfortable manner, a strip of sponge rubber is arranged around the edge between the tube coils.
Fig. l of the accompanying drawing represents a vertical section of a cap constructed according to the invention. v
Fig. 2 is a section at right angles to Fig. l. and
Fig. 3 is a view showing the cap in use.
The bathing cap 3 is provided in known manner with an inflatable tightening tube l arranged inside the cap around the lower edge thereof. One end 01 the tube is fltted with an inflating ball 4 and the other'end is connected to an exhaust valve 5. According to the invention the cap is formed with an enlargement 2 at the crown and inside the latter with a pocket in which the ball '4 and valve ii can be permanently accommodated 5 and allow 0! being operated from outside the cap.
The tube is arranged in coils around the edge of the cap, and a strip 8 of sponge rubber is arranged between the coils so as to take the thrust of the tube. b this arrangement the cap can 10 be worn without discomfort even if the tube should get hard by the inflation.
I claim:
1. A bathing cap ,of the character described having an inside crown pocket, an inflatable 15 tightening tube arranged in coils inside the cap around the edgezthereoi and terminating at the ends in said pocket, an inflating ball located in the pocket and connected to one end of the tube, and an exhaust valve connected to the other end 20 of the tube. Y a
2. The bathing cap claimed in claim 1 in combination with a strip of sponge rubber arranged between the coils of the tube.
