I RIDING BOOT Filed Dec. 4, 1935 2 Sheets-Sheet 2 Inventor Q By E 576 t g Allomejes UlTED STATES PAT T OFFICE 1 Claim.
The present invention relates to a riding boot or the like and the general object of the invention is to factilitate the putting on and taking off operations which are usually rather difficult 5 in the ordinary type of boot.
Another important object of the invention resides in the provision of a boot of this nature wherein my invention is incorporated therein in an exceedingly simple and inexpensive manner and wherein said improvement is capable of easy operation, convenience, and reliability.
With the above and numerous other objects in view as will appear as the description proceeds, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
In the drawings:--
Figure l is a side elevation of a boot embodygit ing the features of my invention.
Figure 2 is a rear elevation thereof.
Figure 3 is a fragmentary rear elevation showing the upper portion or" the leg part with the flap in open position and the slide fastener closed.
Figure 4 is a similar view showing the slide fastener open.
Figure 5 is a sectional view taken substantially on the line 55 of Figure 2.
Figure 6 is a detail section taken substantially on the line t-3 of Figure 2.
Referring to the drawings in detail it will be seen that the numeral 5 denotes the sole of the boot, numeral 6 the heel thereof, numeral 8 denotes generally the upper having rear or heel portion 9 and numeral l denotes the legging portion the instep part of which has lacing l I or other suitable means. The upper rear portion of the legging I0 is provided with a slit having a slide fastener l2 associated therewith for closing and opening said slit.
,A tongue I4 extends upwardly from the heel part9 of the upper 8 and is stitched to the legging the major portion of its length up to the bottom end of the slit, the remaining portion being free and capable of covering the slide fastener l2, and the terminal thereof is foldable over the upper edge of the legging and secured in place by snap fasteners 15 as shown to advantage in Figure 6.
From the above detailed description it will be readily appreciated that by releasing the terminal of the tongue and opening the slide fastener the boot may be more easily and readily 10 put on and taken off.
It is thought that the construction, utility and advantages of this invention will now be quite apparent to those skilled in this art without a more detailed description thereof.
The present embodiment of the invention has been described in considerable detail merely for the purposes of exemplification since in actual practice it attains the features of advantage enumerated as desirable in the statement of the 0 invention and the above description.
It will be apparent that changes in the details of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or scope of the inven- I tion as hereinafter claimed or sacrificing any of its advantages.
What is claimed is:
In combination with the legging portion of a boot, where in the legging portion of said boot has in its rear portion a slit extending downwardly from the upper edge thereof and terminating at an intermediate portion, a slide fastener associated with said slit for opening and closing the same, a tongue extending along the rear of the legging and fixed thereto up as far as the bottom end of the slit and being free upwardly therefrom and means for detachably engaging the terminal of the tongue with the inner side of the legging adjacent the upper edge thereof, said means being in the form of snap fasteners and the terminal folding over the upper edge of the legging.
