Referring more: particularly to the embodiment selected twillustmtemy inuention, it comprises a. cutout; [Ill which for purposes of illustration is shown here as a doll or little girl. In my invention I provide adjacent the extremity or extremities of the cutout l8 an integral fold- 30 able support portion H. In the embodiment shown in the drawing a foldable cutout portion ll continues integrally from the cutout II) at each of the two feet of the doll, but my foldable cutout portion is not to be limited to use with feet 35 but may be employed with wheels, hands, head, knees, bottom or any other extremity upon which an article or person or thing represented in the cutout might rest.
My foldable support portion H has a heel por- 49 tion l2 continuing forwardly from the cutout l and having a horizontal score l3 which permits the heel portion to 'be bent backwardly until the heel portion is substantially at a right angle to the cutout Ill, thus forming a heel for the upright 45 cutout l0. Integral with said heel portion and extending on both sides of said heel portion l2 are a pair of wings l4 and I5. These wings extend on either side of the heel portion along vertlcal scores l6 and I1 and continue upwardly 60 along the foot 18 of the cutout portion, from which said wings are separated by slits l9 and 29. A diagonal score 2| on one of said wings I4 extends from the lower end of score 16 and meets another diagonal score 22 running from the top 855 of the slit 1!, said scores 2| and 22 forming a triangular portion 23. On the other of the wings a diagonal score 24 extends from the lower end of score I1 and meets another diagonal score 25-. running from. the top of slit 28. said scores 24 and 25 forming a triangular portion 26. 5-
Extending beyond the triangular portion 23 of wing; M are; a pair of flaps 21 and 28 extending outwardly from. scores 21; and 22 respectively. On the other wing; l5 are also a pair of flaps 29 and 30 extending; beyond the triangular portion 26; outwardly from scores. 24 and 25.
Substantially inthecenter of the diagonal scores onone or the wings, and for purposes of illustration shownon the diagonal scores 24 and 2 51 ofwing iii, are a pair of slits 3| and 32. the wing opposite the wing. which has slits 3| and 32 ands for purposes of illustration in this case on wing Hi the flaps 21 and 28 have tabs 33 and 34 on their outer'portions, said tabs. at the point where they join. the. flaps having scores 35= and. 3B-respective1y. v
When it. is desired: tohave my cutout Hl stand the user-will bendtheheel portion [2 backwardly along the horizontal score l3 so that the heel portion. I2, is on: the floor.- or other supporting surface. The wings: IA and. 1-5 are bent. inwardly along vertical scores [6 and I1. The flaps 29 and 38 are also bent inwardly along diagonal scores 24 and and said flaps are then pushed inwardly against the foot it of the cutout portion ill. The flaps 21 and 28 are then bent inwardly along diagonal scores 2| and 22 and said flaps arepushed inwardly against the foot l8 of the cutout Ii] so flap 21 of wing l4 folds over flap 29 of wing l5 and likewise flap 28 of wing l4 folds over flap 30 of wing 15. The tabs 33 and 34 then fit into slits 3| and 32 respectively and lock the folding support portion l l in fixed position. The flaps 28 and 38 form the front portion of the support and flaps 21 and 29 form the back portion 40 of the support, the triangular portions 23 and 26 forming the side portions of the support and the heel l2 together with the bottom edges of the flaps 28 and 38 and the triangular portions '23 and 28 form the bottom portion of my three dimension foldable support H.
In order to replace the foot of the cutout which is covered by the foldable portion H the front flap 28 may bear the simulation of a shoe or the like 35 and the other sides of the foldable sup- 5 port portion H may have the simulation of ground, glass, floor or the like.
My cutouts may be constructed of paper, cardboard, metal or any other suitable material and have no appreciable thickness.
With my structure it will be observed that it is only necessary to have printing on one side and that that side is the same side on which the printed matter of the cutout itself appears.
It is also a feature of my foldable support portion that it is and need be scored by die cutting is, therefore, so scored that it naturally bends on and with the scores in the desired directions.
The slits 3| and 32 located respectively on scores 24 and 25 form an scores are bent sufi'iciently to admit the tabs'33 and 34 and lock them therein. This form of slit on the score eliminates the need of a small cutout portion which would involve dies in production.
Having thus described my invention, I claim:
1. A device of the class described comprising a cutout having no appreciable thickness, said cutout having an extremity, a support portion integrally attached to said extremity, said support portion comprising a heel portion adapted to fold backwardly to act as a heel for said cutout, a pair of wings on either side of said heel portion adapted to fold inwardly to form side and front portions of said support portion, said heel, side and front portions forming a three dimension support for and integral with said cutout.
2. A device of the class described comprising a cutout having no appreciable thickness, said outout having an extremity, a support portion integrally attached to said extremity, said support portion comprising a substantially square section, a horizontal score between said extremity of the cutout and the square section, so that said square section may be bent backwardly to form a heel for said cutout, a pair of said square section, a score on each side of said square section so that said wings may be bent inout.
