Description

Nov. 24, 1936. P. J. LAKE SHOULDER STRAP HOLDER FOR WOMEN S UNDERWEAR Filed Oct. 50, 1935 Patented Nov. 24, 1936 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE SHOULDER STRAP HOLDER FOR WOMEN'S UNDERWEAR 1 Claim.
My invention relates to improvements in shoulder strap holders for women's underwear, and the object of the invention is to devise a simple de vice which will prevent the straps slipping off the shoulders of the wearers or to an exposed position, and it consists essentially of a strap holding device into which the straps are slipped and means incorporated therein for engaging the inner face of the fabric forming the shoulder of 0 the wearer's dress to prevent lateral movement of the straps.
Fig. 1 is a. view in elevation of my strap holder showing its application.
Fig. 2 is an enlarged perspective detail of my 15 holder.
In the drawing like letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in each figure.
The holder consists of a strip of resilient material formed up into reversely set loops I and 2 2, the arm I bearing against the outer side of the loop 2 and the member 2 against the inner side of the loop I. The arm I is oifset upwardly at I", the extremity being formed into a sharp point 3 so as to be insertable in the fabric I of the dress as illustrated in Fig. 1.
The arm 2 is extended at 2 and is slightly upcurved to more conveniently allow the straps 5, which are generally three in number, to enter, 5 between the arm 2 and the loop I, into the loop 2. Any tendency for the straps to slide of! the shoulders would serve to pull upon the loop 2 and tend to force the point 3 more securely into the fabric 4 of the dress. The spring of the loop serves to prevent the straps slipping in the opposite direction to an exposed position.
What I claim as my invention is:-
A shoulder strap holder comprising a single strip of resilient material formed into reversely set parallel loops lying one over the other and the extremities of the strip pressing resiliently against the side of the adjacent loop, the upper end terminating in a spicular projection oifset 2 outwardly towards its extremity and the other end having a slight extension curved upwardly at its extremity.
