Application September 15, 1933, Serial No. 689,508
2 Claims. (01.139-383) This invention relates to textile material. It tudinal empty dent portion II having only weft or is particularly directed tov elongated strips of filler threads l2. Said empty dent portion is woven ribbon or tape. coextensive with the length of the ribbon. Dis- An object of this invention is to provide a strip posed on opposite sides of the empty dent por- 5 of ribbon of the character described which may tion II are portions l3 comprising a plurality of 5 be slit longitudinally or cut into two separate longitudinal binder warp threads M woven with strips, and being so woven and constructed that the filler threads l2. The binder threads are the slit or cut edges will not unravel, preferably woven around single filler threads.
A further object of this invention is to provide Disposed. n the Oute sides of t e portions 13 are 10 a novel shoulder strap foraladys undergarment portions l comprising a plurality of warp or the like wearing apparel, made of a piece of threads I6 woven with said filler threads 12. my improved ribbon having the ends thereof slit Said warp threads l6 may be Woven about pairs and separated and said separated ends attached of filler threads as shown in the drawing. The strip 10 is made of garment, it will be understood that the same woven material and comprises a central longimay be used for any suitable purpose, it being a dominant feature of the invention to provide a strong ribbon, having a large range of uses, and adapted to be severed into a plurality of ribbons or partially slit without the danger of unravelling of the cut edges.
In Fig. '7 there is shown a ribbon I00 having a plurality of spaced empty dent portions II, on the opposite sides of each of which there are woven the portions l3 having the binder threads l4 and the portions l5 having the woven warp threads i6. The ribbon lDa may thus be severed into three separate strips or partially slit along the empty dent portions il without danger of unravelling of any of the cut edges of the ribbon. The empty dent portion I I further may be easily seen on the strip and serves as a guide for cutting or slitting the ribbon in a straight line.
It will thus be seen that there is provided a device in which the several objects of this inven' tion are achieved, and which is well adapted to meet the conditions of practical use.
As various possible embodiments might be made of the above invention, and as various changes might be made in the embodiments set forth, it is to be understood that all matter herein set forth or shown in the accompanying drawing is to be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting sense.
Having thus described my invention, 1 claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
1. A strip of ribbon comprising a longitudinal intermediate empty dent portion containing only filler threads, portions on opposite sides of said empty dent portion containing binder threads woven about said filler threads singly, portions on the outer sides of said last-mentioned portions containing warp threads woven about pairs of said filler threads, and portions on the outer sides of said warp threads comprising binder threads woven about different pairs of filler threads.
2. A strip of ribbon comprising a longitudinal intermediate empty dent portion containing only filler threads, portions on opposite sides of said empty dent portions containing binder threads woven about said filler threads singly, portions on the outer sides of said last-mentioned por tions containing warp threads woven about pairs of said filler threads, and portions on the outer sides of said warp threads comprising binder threads woven about difierent pairs of said filler threads, said filler threads being looped at the edges of the ribbon, and said ribbon further comprising warp threads woven about the looped portions of said filler threads to form the edges of he ribbon.
