WITNESSES I 5 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
WILLIAM T. WARNER, OF PLATTSBURG, NEW YORK.
IMPROVEMENT IN l-IOISTING -BUCKETS.
Specificationforming part of Letters Patent No. 203,523, dated May 7, 1878; application filed November 10, 1877.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM T. WARNER, of Plattsburg, in the county of Clinton and State of New York, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Elevator-Buckets and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.
Figure 1 of the drawings is a perspective view of my elevator-bucket Fig. 2, a side view, and Fig. 3 a view showing the manner of attachin g my elevator-bucket to the belt.
The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of an adjustable elevator-bucket, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
The annexed drawings, to which reference is made, fully illustrate my invention.
The body of the bucket is formed of a vertical back, A, and curved front B, and the sides or end pieces 0 O,fastened thereto in any caving the belt, then moving the bucket to the point desired on the belt.
To prevent the bucket from slipping on the belt, the inner side of each hook H is made round or triangular in its cross-section, or, in other words, it is formed with a longitudinal ridge or sharp edge, a, on its under or inner side and corresponding therewith is a bead or sharp edge, b, formed on the band D on the back of the bucket or on the bucket. These edges a and b indent the belt, or press into the same in such manner that, the belt being flattened or extended its full width, the bucket cannot slip on the belt.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. In combination with an elevator-bucket and its belt, the hooks H H, projecting from the bucket, and formed with the sharp edges to a on their inner sides, and the corresponding sharp edge I; on the back of the bucket, and clasping the belt, as a mode of fastening, as and for the purposes herein set forth.
2. The combination'of the elevator-bucket A B O, the solid metallic band D, with sharp edge 12, and the hooks H H, having sharp edges a on the under sides, all substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
In testimony that I claim the above I have hereunto subscribed my name in the presence of two witnesses.
WILLIAM T. WARNER.
