Description

G. 1%. KELSEY. Buckle-Loop.
No. 227,541. I Patented May 11,1880.
V 4. 2/6 W JMZZ;
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
GEORGE R. KELSEY, OF WEST HAVEN, CONNECTICUT.
BUCKLE-LOOP.
SPECIFICATION formingpart of Letters Patent No. 227,541, dated May 11, 1880.
Application filed February 27, 1880.
To all whom itmay concern:
Be it known that I, GEO. R. KELSEY, of
.West Haven, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new Inlprovement in Buckle-Loops; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawings constitute part of this specification.
Figure 1' shows the loop as applied to the suspenderend; Fig. 2, the blank from which the loop is formed; Fig. 3, section showing the loop as prepared for attachment; Fig. 4, transverse section attached to the suspenderend; Fig. 5, longitudinal section.
This invention relates to a loop for attaching suspenderaends to the buckle, the object being to form the loop and the clasp which engages the Suspender-ends in a single piece; andthe invention consists in the construction, as hereinafter described, and particularly recited in the claim. 7
From sheet metal a blank is cut, as seen in Fig. 2, the ring-shaped part A forming the loop to the plate part B, to clasp around the suspender-end. The part B has atransverse rib, a, raised upon the inside, and the loop part A may be struck into a concavo-convex shape, so as to strengthen the loop. The part B is then struck into segment shape longitudinally, as seen in Fig. 1, but U shape transversely, as seen in Fig. 3, so as to permit the suspenderend to be laid therein. Then the edges of the tubular part are brought together and closed around the suspender-end. The rib a, impressing itself into the material of the suspenderend, forms a lock to prevent the movement of the end longitudinally.
I claim The herein-described buckle-loop, consisting of the loop A and plate B, in one and the same piece, the plate B constructed with the transverse rib a, and curved longitudinally and bent transversely, so as to inclose the suspender-end, substantially as described.
