This invention relates to apparatus for effecting hypodermic injections, and has for its obv ject to provide a multiple action apparatus with an aseptic gas seal for the automatic injection of serum or hypodermic solutions.
It is a further object of this invention to provide an injection apparatus having at the outlet of the liquid container a capillary tube which, when filled with air or other gas, prevents the liquid in said container from coming into contact with the closing member for the container.
These and other objects of the invention will be apparent from the accompanying drawing in .which Figure l is an elevation, Figure 2 a section of a device embodying the invention, and Fig. 3 is a section on the larger scale of the connection between the container and the delivery device.
This apparatus consists of a container 11, of any desired shape for holding the liquid b to be injected, and air or gas under pressure 0. Arranged at the outlet of the container is a capillary tube (1. The bottle or container at is closed bythevalve or plug e, which is made of rubber and is provided with lateral spaces or grooves f, the-said plug being mounted and fixed in a glass member g. A rubber tube h connects the'end of the bottle or container to the member g, and on the outside of the said rubber tube is arranged an extensible .metal device comprising three parts, namely: a sleeve 2' having a threaded portion and provided with two ormore oppositely arranged longitudinal grooves, an internally threaded ring :1, screwed on the threaded portion of the sleeve and a further sleeve Z provided with two or more tongues engaging into the tWOi or more grooves of part i, and embraced by ring 1.
The sleeve 2' engages the tubular end of the bottle or container, and the sleeve Z engages the intermediate glass tube g, both with an interposed rubber tube 72.. Both the sleeves are clamped upon the rubber tube.

To inject the liquid the screwed ring 7' is rotated, whereby as already explained, the plug e is removed from the end of the container and the apparatus is opened.
The air or gas is first expelled from the outlet and tube m some of the liquid being thus lost, and the injection of the necessary quantity may then take place.

The speed of delivery o.cf the liquid may be controlled by rotation of the threaded ring 7'.
After the desired quantity of liquid has been injected, the apparatus'may be closed (by rotating the screwed ring 7') it being possible to retain the remaining liquid in the container for further injections. This feature permits the repeated use of the apparatus. A graduated scale is provided on the container in order to indicate the amount injected on each occasion.
After each injection the apparatus is inverted and is opened for a moment in order that the gas or air under pressure in the container 0 may expel any liquid remaining in the capillary tube, and this capillary tube is again filled with gas or air, which is interposed between the liquid and the rubber plug, thereby fulfilling its purpose of forming the seal.
This apparatus offers great advantages as compared with the existing types.
As has been explained, it may be used for several injections, thus assuring great economy.
Owing to the special construction of the apparatus the aseptic qualities are well preserved since the liquid to be injected is incontact with glass and air or gas only, and Without contact with any other substance. In spite of this, the
apparatus may be opened or closed as manyv since it sufiices to rotate the threaded ring to permit the injection of the liquid, and the speed of the injection may be controlled at will, thus eliminating the inconvenience caused to patients when injecting liquid with undue speed.
What we claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
l. A hypodermic injection apparatus comprising a container for liquid, a capillary tube forming an outlet from said container, a delivery member having a passage therein for liquid discharging through said capillary tube, and a resilient closing means between said delivery member andsaid capillary tube and means for adjusting said closing means toward and away from said capillary tube and maintaining it in adjusted position.
2. A hypodermic injection apparatus comprising a container for liquid, a capillary tube forming an outlet from said container, an output nozzle from said capillary tube, a delivery member having a passage therein for liquid discharging through said nozzle, and a resilient closing means located in front of said nozzle and between said nozzle and said delivery member and means for adjusting said closing means toward and away from said capillary tube and maintaining it in adjusted position.

A hypodermic injection apparatus comprising a container for liquid, a capillary tube forming an outlet from said container, an output nozzle from said capillary tube, a delivery member having a passage therein for liquid discharging from said nozzle, said passage having a greater diameter at one end thereof than at the other end thereof, a resilient closing means located in said passage at the end of larger diameter and abutting against said outlet nozzle and means for adjusting said closing means to-- ward and away from said capillary tube and maintaining it in adjusted position.

A hypodermic injection apparatus comprising a container for liquid, a capillary tube forming an outlet from said container, an outlet nozzle from said capillary tube, a delivery member having a passage therein for liquid discharging from said nozzle, a closing means for said nozzle mounted in said delivery tube between said nozzle and delivery member and means for varying the distance of said delivery member from said nozzle.

A hypodermic injection apparatus comprising a container for liquid, a capillary tube forming an outlet from said container, an outlet nozzle from said capillary tube, a delivery member having a passage therein for liquid discharging from said nozzle, resilient closing means for said nozzle between said nozzle and said delivery member, an anchoring member attached to said container, a supporting member for said delivery member, and means-interconnecting said anchoring and supporting members said supporting member having means to operate said closing means.

A hypodermic injection apparatus comprising a container for liquid, a capillary tube forming an outlet from said container, an outlet nozzle from said capillary tube, a delivery member having a passage therein for liquid discharging from said nozzle, a resilient closing means for said nozzle located between said nozzle and said delivery member, a resilient tube surrounding a portion of said container adjacent said nozzle and also surrounding said delivery member, a sleeve member clamping said tube to said container, a second sleeve member clamping said tube to said delivery member, and means for varying the distance between said sleeve members.
'7. Apparatus as claimed in, claim 6 wherein said last mentioned means comprise a screw threaded portion on one of said sleeve members, and a threaded member upon said threaded portion and attached to the other of said sleeve members.

A hypodermic injection apparatus comprising a container for liquid having a portion of decreased diameter, a capillary tube continuous with the walls of the container and extending into said portion of decreased diameter, a tube member surrounding said portion of decreased diameter and attached thereto, means for closing said capillary tube arranged within said tube member and means for adjusting said closing means toward and away from said capillary tube and maintaining it in adjusted position.
9. Apparatus as claimed in claim 8 wherein said closing means is provided with a depression into which the extremity of said capillary tube is arranged to enter, and means for adjusting said closing means toward and away from said capillary tube and maintaining it in adjusted position.
