This invention relates to scalp treating implements and has for its object the provision of a simple and inexpensive device whereby a liquid shampoo or other material may be applied to a scalp and an effective rubbing performed upon the scalp. A device embodying the invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing and will be hereinafter fully described, and the invention resides in certain novel features which will be particularly defined in the appended claims.

In carrying out the invention there is provided a bottle or container l which is constructed of rubber of sufiicient stifiness to remain upright when stood on end but resilient enough to be readily compressed. This container is formed on its bottom with small feet 2 spaced apart so as to support the device in upright position and the Walls of the device are constricted, as shown at 3, whereby it may be easily grasped in the hand of the user and compressed to expel some of its contents. The upper end of the container is formed into a neck G which is internally threaded and adapted to receive a hard rubber ring 5 which is externally threaded and is provided at one side with an annular flange 6 adapted to rest on the upper edge of the neck 4 and having its opposite end closed by a web 1. The web 1 has formed integral therewith a plurality of nozzles 8 which are preferably disposed around its margin and extend therethrough to permit escape of some of the liquid in the container when the container is compressed. There is also provided a nipple carrier consisting of a ring 9 having a smooth circular wall and adapted to fit snugly within the ring 5, as clearly shown in Figure 1. This ring has nipples Ill formed integral therewith and so spaced that they may be easily engaged over the nozzles 8 and frictionally held thereon whereby the rubber will be firmly held in the ring 5.
As shown clearly in Figure 1, the nozzles 8 are tapered outwardly and the bores of the nipples it! are likewise tapered so that when the nipples are fitted over the nozzles and pressed home so that the ring or body 9 rests against the web I,
the device will be firmly engaged and may be rubbed over the scalp without becoming detached. The outer ends of the nipples I 0 are beveled, as shown at H, so that they will act upon the scalp in the manner of the human fingers when vigorously rubbing the scalp in the 5 act of shampooing.
In use the container is filled entirely or partially with a liquid having cleansing and healing properties and the ring 5 and carrier 9 are then fitted together and in the neck of the con- 10 tainer. The container is then inverted so that the nipples will rest upon the scalp and pressure is applied to the container to collapse the Walls of the same and thereby expel some of the contents through the nozzles. and nipples. By rub- 15 bing the device over the scalp, dandruff and other obnoxious deposits on the scalp will be thoroughly loosened and removed and the liquid will be spread over and applied to the entire surface of the scalp. While the nipples I0 are 20 hard rubber, they will yield to the pressure exerted upon them so as to avoid laceration of the scalp while directing the shampoo or other liquid directly on to the scalp and the bevelled formation of the ends of the nipples will aid in 25 facilitating flow of the liquid inasmuch as it will avoid fiat engagement of the nipples with the scalp which would tend to close the nipples and prevent the fiow. The device is exceedingly simple and inexpensive and may be easily ma- 30 nipulated to thoroughly treat the scalp in any desired manner.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is:
1. A shampoo and massage device comprising 5 a resilient container, a ring adapted to be secured in the neck of the container and having a Web and a series of annularly disposed integral nozzles thereon, said nozzles terminating within the limits of the ring, and a rubber adapted to 4.0 fit within the ring and formed with resilient nipples adapted to surround the nozzles and project past the nozzles and ring for a massaging operation.
2. A shampoo and massage device comprising 45 a container, a ring removably secured in the neck of the container and having nozzles, and a rubber adapted to fit within the ring and formed with a circular wall and resilient nipples adapted to surround the nozzles and project 50 past the nozzles and ring for a massaging operation, said nipples being integral with the circular wall and being reinforced by said wall.
