1 Claim.

This invention relates to new and useful improvements in apparatus and means, having for their objects, in combination with cleansing lotions, creams, etc., to purify and cleanse the skin.

a The device may also be used for body massage, when applied in combination with liniments, salves, etc., to alleviate muscular and rheumatic pains and colds.

The said device may further be used to administer a nasal douche, and as an inhalator.

This device, which thus constitutes, in combination, a vacuum cleaning, massage and toilet article, may be made either of glass, metal, Wood or any kind of plastic materials. The lower part 15 of the device is covered with a large rubber cap, and the upper part thereof with a massage rubber cap.

With the above and other objects in view, this invention consists of the novel features of construction, combination,

parts, hereinafter fully described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, forming part of this application, and in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all views, and in which:

Figure 1 is an elevational view of my invention.

Figure 2 is a transverse sectional view, taken on the line 2--2 in Figure 1.

Figure 3 is a transverse sectional view taken on the line 33 in Figure 2.

Figure 4 is a transverse sectional view of the top of my device, showing a difierent cap member applied to the latter; while Figure 5 shows in a top plan view a washer.

Referring more particularly to the drawing, I indicates a container made of any suitable material.

Said container has its neck portion threaded, as shown at H, and adapted to receive therein a stopper l2, when the apparatus is not in operation.

In case it is desired to administer a nasal douche, the stopper I2 is substituted by a cap 45 member I3, which is made of any suitable material, such as rubber, and which is formed with an opening I4 in the top thereof, to permit the discharge of a curative fluid.

A disc l formed with perforations l6 there- 59 in, and made of any suitable kind of material, such as cork, or hard rubber, is arranged in the upper part of the container, as shown at H. Said disk has in the center an opening l8 adapted to receive therein a tube I9 of suitable length 55 and made of hard material; the said tube may and arrangement of have the lower end thereof closed by a detachable rubber stopper 20.

During certain applications of the device, it may be desirable to eliminate, or partly eliminate the efiect obtained by means of the perforations I6 in the disc, in which case a rubber washer 2| is placed on top of the latter, as shown in Figures 2 and 4.

The bottom of the container, which is open, may be closed by means of a closure member 22; 0 the latter may, however, during certain operations be removed, and a rubber bottom closure member 23, as shown, substituted therefor. Said rubber bottom is upon the outer side thereof provided with small tapered projections 24, especially made for the purpose of massage; while an enlargement 25 in the center of the rubber closure member serves to reenforce the bottom thereof, when the latter is manipulated during operation of the device.

The outer shape of the container at the bottom thereof, and the step-formed top part of said container merely serve the purpose of ornamentation.

When the closure member 22 is removed, and 25 I the rubber bottom closure member 23 alone covers the open bottom of the container, said container may, by removing the top cap [3 or the stopper l2, be used as a vacuum cleanser, as in this case the operator may exert pressure upon the bottom of the rubber closure member at 25, whereby the air of the container is expelled through the perforations l6; and, by, in turn, releasing the pressure on the bottom of the rubber closure member, the apparatus will suck up the impurities of the skin to which the top of the container is applied.

A cream or lotion, for instance, absorbed by a piece of cotton, as shown at 28, may be placed on top of the disc I5, in order that, when a pressure is exerted on the bottom of the rubber closure member, the fine particles of the cream, or the air mixed with the volatile discharge of the lotion, may be applied to the skin to be treated. When, however, during an operation it is decided that the air or other contents of the container are discharged in too great a measure, a washer 2| may be placed on top of said disc to minimize the effect of said perforations.

During the vacuum cleansing operation the tube l 9 is normally closed by means of a stopper 20; whereas in case the container is filled with a fluid, for instance, when a nasal douche is administered, said stopper 20 would be removed in order 66 to permit a full effect of the contents of the container.

In administering a nasal douche a fluid is discharged through an opening [4 in the cap l3, which latter is shaped especially for said purpose.

It is obvious that the specially constructed rubher bottom closure member with its projections makes the latter very suitable for use in massage treatment.

I claim as my invention:

In a device for manifold purposes, as described, in combination, a container open at both ends, said container having a threaded neck portion, a stopper adapted for insertion into the latter, a perforated disc at the lower end of said neck portion, a saturated cotton member arranged on top of said disc, and a washer disposed above said cotton member and in close proximity to the latter and the disc, whereby to limit the discharge of the contents of said cotton member, said disc and washer being formed with central openings therein, a tube disposed in said latter openings, and a stopper adapted to close said tube at the lower end thereof, whereby to provide a partial vacuum effect, when the apparatus is used for the discharge of the contents of the cotton member; and a rubber closure member covering the open bottom of the container, said rubber closure member being formed with small projections upon its outer surface, and having an enlargement at the center thereof, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
