Description

F. W. PARSONS.-
Wash Board No. 202,285. Patented April,9,1878.
WIT ss 3 INVENTOR I 30 -mmX1 m; M
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FRANCIS W. PARSONS, OF CLEVELAND, OHIO.
' IMPROVEMENT IN WASH-BOARDS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent N0. 202,285, dated April 9, 1878; application filed October 23, 1877.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANCIS W. PARSONS, of Cleveland, in the county of Ouyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Wash-Boards; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use it, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form part of this specification.
My invention relates to wash-boards; and it consists in the peculiar construction of the plate of said wash-board, as will hereinafter more fully appear.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a face or front view of my device, and Fig. 2 a view in crosssection through said face.
A is any suitable frame for holding and supporting the plate B. The plate B is constructed, preferably, from zinc or other suitable sheet metal, but if found expedient may be made from any other substance. B are crimps or corrugations, of the description common in ordinary wash-boards, made to extend transversely across the face of said board. 0 are lines or depressions formed on the plate, ex-
tending in a general longitudinal direction thereon, so as to cross the main or transverse crimps B at a greater or less angle. The drawings represent the said lines 0 formed zigzag upon the plate, so that the result is to make the intervening formations D pointed or lozenge-shaped; but I am not restricted thereto, and may, instead thereof, form the lines 0 so as to make the said formations D square, octagonal, or oval form.
Having fully described my invention, What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A wash-board plate wherein the opposite surfaces of each one of the main corrugations B are provided with a single series of crimps or indentations, O, the same being arranged to form a series of zigzag lines extending the length of the wash-board plate, substantially as set forth.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
FRANCIS W. PARSONS. Witnesses:
F. ToUMEY, W. E. DoNNELLY.
