- The disclosure and prior art relates to training gloves and more particularly pertains to a new training glove for improving non-dominant hand dexterity.
- An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a glove body having a dorsal side, a ventral side, a thumb side, and a pinky side. The glove body has a wrist aperture, a finger aperture, and a hand cavity extending from the wrist aperture to the finger aperture. The glove body is configured to receive a dominant hand of a user and extend from below a wrist of the user to past a second knuckle of each finger of the user while covering a thumb of the user entirely within the hand cavity. A wrist tightening mechanism is coupled to the glove body proximal the wrist aperture to tighten and alternatively loosen the wrist aperture. A finger tightening mechanism is coupled to the glove body proximal the finger aperture to tighten and alternatively loosen the finger aperture. The glove body, the wrist tightening mechanism, and the finger tightening mechanism are configured to render the dominant hand of the user unusable.
- There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
- The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
- The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
-
FIG. 1 is an isometric in-use view of a hand immobilizing dexterity trainer glove according to an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 2 is a top plan view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 3 is a top plan view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 4 is a bottom plan view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 5 is a rear elevation view of an embodiment of the disclosure. - With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
FIGS. 1 through 5 thereof, a new training glove embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by thereference numeral 10 will be described. - As best illustrated in
FIGS. 1 through 5 , the hand immobilizingdexterity trainer glove 10 generally comprises a glove body 12 having adorsal side 14, aventral side 16, athumb side 18, and apinky side 20. The glove body has awrist aperture 22, afinger aperture 24, and ahand cavity 26 extending from thewrist aperture 22 to thefinger aperture 24 to receive adominant hand 28 of a user. The glove body 12 extends from below awrist 30 of the user to past a second knuckle of each finger of the user and covers athumb 32 of the user entirely within the hand cavity. Athumb divider 34 may be coupled to the glove body within thehand cavity 26 extending from theventral side 16 to thedorsal side 14 and from thefinger aperture 24 to amidline 36 of the glove body. The thumb divider creates athumb pocket 38 from thethumb side 18 to thethumb divider 34 to receive thethumb 32 of the user. - A
wrist tightening mechanism 40 is coupled to the glove body proximal thewrist aperture 22. The wrist tightening mechanism may comprise awrist strap 42 having a fixedend 44, afree end 46, atop side 48, and abottom side 50. The top side has a first hook-and-loop fastener 52 adjacent the fixedend 44 and the bottom side has a second hook-and-loop fastener 54 adjacent thefree end 46. The first hook-and-loop fastener is selectively engageable with the second hook-and-loop fastener and thewrist strap 42 is wrapable around the glove body 12 adjacent thewrist aperture 22. Thewrist tightening mechanism 40 tightens and alternatively loosens thewrist aperture 22 and is configured to secure the glove body 12 to thewrist 30 of the user. - A
finger tightening mechanism 56 is coupled to the glove body 12 proximal thefinger aperture 24. The finger tightening mechanism may comprise afinger strap 58 having a second fixedend 60, a secondfree end 62, an upside 64, and adown side 66. The up side has a third hook-and-loop fastener 68 adjacent the second fixedend 60 and a fourth hook-and-loop fastener 70 adjacent the secondfree end 62. The third hook-and-loop fastener is selectively engageable with the fourth hook-and-loop fastener and the secondfree end 62 passes through aslot 72 in the glove body proximal thefinger aperture 24 and folds back toward the second fixedend 60 to cinch the finger aperture. Thefinger tightening mechanism 56 thus tightens and alternatively loosens thefinger aperture 24. - In use, the user places the
dominant hand 28 through thewrist aperture 22 until the glove body 12 extends from below thewrist 30 to past the second knuckle of each finger and covers thethumb 32 entirely. The user then adjusts thewrist tightening mechanism 40 and thefinger tightening mechanism 56 to tighten thewrist aperture 22 and thefinger aperture 24. The glove body, the wrist tightening mechanism, and the finger tightening mechanism thus render the dominant hand of the user unusable. The user then plays an ambidextrous sport such as basketball but is forced to use his non-dominant hand to dribble, shoot, and play, thus improving his dexterity in his non-dominant hand. - With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
- Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
