- The disclosure and prior art relates to gloves and more particularly pertains to a new glove for improved grip securing weights.
- An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a glove body having a dorsal side, a ventral side, a wrist portion, a palm portion, a thumb portion, and a plurality of finger portions. The wrist portion has a principal aperture extending through to a glove inside. The principal aperture is configured to receive a user's hand and the wrist portion is configured to cover a user's wrist. Each of the plurality of finger portions has a fingertip aperture configured to expose a user's fingertip and the thumb portion has a thumb tip aperture configured to expose a user's thumb tip. A strap is coupled to the wrist portion and comprises a first mating member and a second mating member to selectively cinch the principal aperture and secure the wrist portion on the user's wrist. A grip panel is coupled to the ventral side of the wrist portion and extends towards the fingertip apertures. The grip panel is substantially flexible to be wrapped around a weight bar.
- There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
- The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
- The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
-
FIG. 1 is an isometric view of a weight training glove apparatus according to an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 2 is an isometric view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 3 is a top plan view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 4 is a side elevation view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 5 is a bottom plan view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 6 is an in-use view of an embodiment of the disclosure. - With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
FIGS. 1 through 6 thereof, a new glove embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by thereference numeral 10 will be described. - As best illustrated in
FIGS. 1 through 6 , the weighttraining glove apparatus 10 generally comprises aglove body 12 having adorsal side 14, aventral side 16, awrist portion 18, apalm portion 20, athumb portion 22, and a plurality offinger portions 24. Thewrist portion 18 has aprincipal aperture 26 extending through to a glove inside 28. Theprincipal aperture 26 is configured to receive a user's hand and thewrist portion 18 is configured to cover a user's wrist to support the wrist joint. Each of the plurality offinger portions 24 has afingertip aperture 30 configured to expose a user'sfingertip 32 for improved tactile sensation and dexterity. The plurality offinger portions 24 is configured to extend to adistal phalanx 34 of each of the user's fingers. Thethumb portion 22 has athumb tip aperture 36 configured to expose a user'sthumb tip 38. Theglove body 12 may be a durable cloth material including, but not limited to, leather, vinyl, and the like. Theventral side 16 may be thicker than thedorsal side 14 for increased padding and protection of the palms. A logo or image may be printed on thedorsal side 14. - A
strap 40 is coupled to theglove body 12. Thestrap 40 is coupled to thewrist portion 18 and comprises afirst mating member 42 and asecond mating member 44 to selectively cinch theprincipal aperture 26 and secure thewrist portion 18 on the user's wrist for increased support and to prevent theglove body 12 from slipping. The first 42 and second 44 mating members may comprise a hook and loop fastener or other type of releasable fastener such as, but not limited to, buttons, snaps, and the like. Agrip panel 46 is coupled to theglove body 12 and comprises athin portion 48, atapered portion 50, and awide portion 52. Thethin portion 48 is continuously coupled to theventral side 16 of thewrist portion 18. Thetapered portion 50 extends over thepalm portion 20 and thewide portion 52 extends from thepalm portion 20 over the plurality offinger portions 24. Adistal end 54 of the grip panel extends past the plurality offinger portions 24 and thegrip panel 46 is substantially flexible to be wrapped around a weight bar 56. - In use, the
glove body 12 is worn like a traditional exercise glove and thestrap 40 is engaged to tighten thewrist portion 18. Thegrip panel 46 may then be used as additional padding between theventral side 16 and the weight bar 56 or may be wrapped around the weight bar 56 and secured with the fingers for improved grip strength and to prevent wrist damage. - With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
- Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
