- The disclosure and prior art relates to cover devices and more particularly pertains to a new cover device for inhibiting a user from contacting linen and pillows on a bed.
- An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a cover that is positionable on a bed having the cover covering linen on the bed. In this way the cover inhibits a user from contacting the linen when the user lies on the bed. A plurality of weights is each coupled to the cover such that each of the weights inhibits the cover from moving off of the bed. A sheet is coupled to the cover to cover the user when the user lies on the cover.
- There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
- The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
- The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
-
FIG. 1 is a top view of a portable bed cover assembly according to an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 2 is a bottom view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 3 is a right side view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 4 is a cross sectional view taken along line 4-4 ofFIG. 2 of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 5 is a phantom in-use view of an embodiment of the disclosure. - With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
FIGS. 1 through 5 thereof, a new cover device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by thereference numeral 10 will be described. - As best illustrated in
FIGS. 1 through 5 , the portablebed cover assembly 10 generally comprises acover 12 that is positionable on abed 14 having thecover 12 coveringlinen 16 on thebed 14. In this way thecover 12 inhibits a user from contacting thelinen 16 when the user lies on thebed 14. The user may be a person who is staying in a hotel or staying in a home that is not their own. Moreover, thebed 14 may be abed 14 that does not belong to the user. - The
cover 12 has afirst surface 18, asecond surface 20 and aperipheral edge 22 extending therebetween. Theperipheral edge 22 has atop side 24, abottom side 26, a firstlateral side 28 and a secondlateral side 30. Thetop side 24 is convexly arcuate between each of the first 28 and second 30 lateral sides to define apillow portion 32 of thecover 12 curving outwardly from abed portion 31 of thecover 12. Thebed 14 portion lies on thebed 14 when thecover 12 is positioned on thebed 14 and thepillow portion 32 coverspillows 34 on thebed 14 when thecover 12 is positioned on thebed 14. - The
peripheral edge 22 has afirst notch 36 extending inwardly therein at an intersection of the firstlateral side 28 and thebottom side 26. Thefirst notch 36 defines afirst flap 38 extending along the firstlateral side 28. Theperipheral edge 22 has asecond notch 40 extending inwardly therein at an intersection of the secondlateral side 30 and thebottom side 26. Thesecond notch 40 defines asecond flap 42 extending along the secondlateral side 30 and athird flap 44 extending along thebottom side 26. Each of the first 38, second 42 and third 44 flaps extend downwardly along anouter edge 45 of thebed 14 when thecover 12 is positioned on thebed 14 having thesecond surface 20 of thecover 12 resting on thebed 14. - A plurality of
weights 46 is each coupled to thecover 12 such that each of theweights 46 inhibits thecover 12 from moving off of thebed 14. Each of theweights 46 is positioned on thesecond surface 20 of thecover 12 and theweights 46 are spaced apart from each other and are distributed on a respective one of the first 38, second 42 and third 44 flaps. Each of theweights 46 may be integrated into the fabric of thecover 12, each of theweights 46 may be bonded to thecover 12 or thecover 12 may be rolled over onto itself to enclose theweights 46. Each of theweights 46 may have a circular shape thereby reducing impact noise when thecover 12 is laundered in a washing machine. - An
elastic member 48 is coupled to thepillow portion 32 of thecover 12. Theelastic member 48 is aligned with and is coextensive with thetop side 24 of theperipheral edge 22 of thecover 12. Theelastic member 48 biases thepillow portion 32 to wrap around thepillows 34 on thebed 14 when thecover 12 is positioned on thebed 14. Theelastic member 48 is comprised of a resiliently stretchable material such as rubber or elastic. Asheet 50 is coupled to thecover 12 and thesheet 50 covers the user when the user lies on thecover 12. Thesheet 50 has afirst end 52 and thefirst end 52 is coupled to thefirst surface 18 of thecover 12. Thefirst end 52 is spaced from and is coextensive with thebottom side 26 of theperipheral edge 22 of thecover 12 and thesheet 50 extends toward thepillow portion 32 of thecover 12. - In use, the
cover 12 is laid on thebed 14 when the user is travelling. Thecover 12 is oriented such that each of the first 38, second 42 and third 44 flaps extends downwardly along theouter edge 45 of thebed 14. Thepillow portion 32 is stretched across thepillows 34 to cover 12 thepillows 34. Theelastic member 48 is stretched around thebed 14 to retain thepillow portion 32 on thepillows 34. Thus, thecover 12 and thepillow portion 32 completely cover 12 thelinen 16 andpillows 34 on thebed 14 thereby inhibiting the user from contacting thelinen 16 andpillows 34. In this way the user is protected from germs, dirt and other detritus that may be present on thelinen 16 and thepillows 34. The user lies between thecover 12 and thesheet 50 when the user sleeps in thebed 14. - With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
- Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded.
- A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
