  • The disclosure and prior art relates to cover devices and more particularly pertains to a new cover device for inhibiting a user from contacting linen and pillows on a bed.
  • BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a cover that is positionable on a bed having the cover covering linen on the bed. In this way the cover inhibits a user from contacting the linen when the user lies on the bed. A plurality of weights is each coupled to the cover such that each of the weights inhibits the cover from moving off of the bed. A sheet is coupled to the cover to cover the user when the user lies on the cover.
  • There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
  • The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWING(S)
  • The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
  • FIG. 1 is a top view of a portable bed cover assembly according to an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 2 is a bottom view of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 3 is a right side view of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 4 is a cross sectional view taken along line 4-4 of FIG. 2 of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 5 is a phantom in-use view of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 5 thereof, a new cover device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.
  • As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 5, the portable bed cover assembly 10 generally comprises a cover 12 that is positionable on a bed 14 having the cover 12 covering linen 16 on the bed 14. In this way the cover 12 inhibits a user from contacting the linen 16 when the user lies on the bed 14. The user may be a person who is staying in a hotel or staying in a home that is not their own. Moreover, the bed 14 may be a bed 14 that does not belong to the user.
  • The cover 12 has a first surface 18, a second surface 20 and a peripheral edge 22 extending therebetween. The peripheral edge 22 has a top side 24, a bottom side 26, a first lateral side 28 and a second lateral side 30. The top side 24 is convexly arcuate between each of the first 28 and second 30 lateral sides to define a pillow portion 32 of the cover 12 curving outwardly from a bed portion 31 of the cover 12. The bed 14 portion lies on the bed 14 when the cover 12 is positioned on the bed 14 and the pillow portion 32 covers pillows 34 on the bed 14 when the cover 12 is positioned on the bed 14.
  • The peripheral edge 22 has a first notch 36 extending inwardly therein at an intersection of the first lateral side 28 and the bottom side 26. The first notch 36 defines a first flap 38 extending along the first lateral side 28. The peripheral edge 22 has a second notch 40 extending inwardly therein at an intersection of the second lateral side 30 and the bottom side 26. The second notch 40 defines a second flap 42 extending along the second lateral side 30 and a third flap 44 extending along the bottom side 26. Each of the first 38, second 42 and third 44 flaps extend downwardly along an outer edge 45 of the bed 14 when the cover 12 is positioned on the bed 14 having the second surface 20 of the cover 12 resting on the bed 14.
  • A plurality of weights 46 is each coupled to the cover 12 such that each of the weights 46 inhibits the cover 12 from moving off of the bed 14. Each of the weights 46 is positioned on the second surface 20 of the cover 12 and the weights 46 are spaced apart from each other and are distributed on a respective one of the first 38, second 42 and third 44 flaps. Each of the weights 46 may be integrated into the fabric of the cover 12, each of the weights 46 may be bonded to the cover 12 or the cover 12 may be rolled over onto itself to enclose the weights 46. Each of the weights 46 may have a circular shape thereby reducing impact noise when the cover 12 is laundered in a washing machine.
  • An elastic member 48 is coupled to the pillow portion 32 of the cover 12. The elastic member 48 is aligned with and is coextensive with the top side 24 of the peripheral edge 22 of the cover 12. The elastic member 48 biases the pillow portion 32 to wrap around the pillows 34 on the bed 14 when the cover 12 is positioned on the bed 14. The elastic member 48 is comprised of a resiliently stretchable material such as rubber or elastic. A sheet 50 is coupled to the cover 12 and the sheet 50 covers the user when the user lies on the cover 12. The sheet 50 has a first end 52 and the first end 52 is coupled to the first surface 18 of the cover 12. The first end 52 is spaced from and is coextensive with the bottom side 26 of the peripheral edge 22 of the cover 12 and the sheet 50 extends toward the pillow portion 32 of the cover 12.
  • In use, the cover 12 is laid on the bed 14 when the user is travelling. The cover 12 is oriented such that each of the first 38, second 42 and third 44 flaps extends downwardly along the outer edge 45 of the bed 14. The pillow portion 32 is stretched across the pillows 34 to cover 12 the pillows 34. The elastic member 48 is stretched around the bed 14 to retain the pillow portion 32 on the pillows 34. Thus, the cover 12 and the pillow portion 32 completely cover 12 the linen 16 and pillows 34 on the bed 14 thereby inhibiting the user from contacting the linen 16 and pillows 34. In this way the user is protected from germs, dirt and other detritus that may be present on the linen 16 and the pillows 34. The user lies between the cover 12 and the sheet 50 when the user sleeps in the bed 14.
  • With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded.
  • A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
