Description

BACKGROUND OF THE DISCLOSURE Field of the Disclosure
  • The disclosure relates to mattress sheets and more particularly pertains to a new mattress sheet for allowing quick and efficient making of a bed.
  • SUMMARY OF THE DISCLOSURE
  • An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a bottom sheet including a top panel and a perimeter wall attached to and extending downwardly from the top panel. The perimeter wall has a bottom edge defining an opening for receiving a mattress. The top panel includes a first edge, a second edge, a third edge and a fourth edge wherein the first and second edges are positioned opposite of each other. A top sheet has a first end edge, a second end edge, a first lateral edge and a second lateral edge. The first end edge is attached to the bottom sheet such that the top sheet is positionable on top of the top panel. The first end edge is positioned adjacent to the first edge of the top panel.
  • There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
  • The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
  • FIG. 1 is a top perspective view of a mattress sheet assembly according to an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 2 is a bottom view of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 3 is a top view of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 4 is a side view of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 5 is a broken, top perspective view of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
  • With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 5 thereof, a new mattress sheet embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.
  • As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 5, the mattress sheet assembly 10 generally comprises a bottom sheet 12 including a top panel 14 and a perimeter wall 16 that is attached to and extends downwardly from the top panel 14. The perimeter wall 16 has a bottom edge 18 defining an opening configured for receiving a mattress 20. The bottom edge 18 may include a resiliently stretchable material and thus define a conventional fitted sheet. The top panel 14 includes a first edge 22, a second edge 24, a third edge 26 and a fourth edge 28 wherein the first 22 and second 24 edges are positioned opposite of each other.
  • A top sheet 30 has a first end edge 32, a second end edge 34, a first lateral edge 36 and a second lateral edge 38. The first end edge 32 is non-removably attached to the bottom sheet 12 such that the top sheet 30 is positionable on top of the top panel 14. The top sheet 30 may be attached to the bottom sheet 12 by stitching or other conventional cloth coupling means. The first end edge 32 is positioned adjacent to the first edge 22 of the top panel 14. Moreover, the top sheet 30 may have a width from the first lateral edge 36 to the second lateral edge 38 which is greater than a width of the top panel 14 from the third edge 26 to the fourth edge 28. The top sheet 30 is positioned such that the first lateral edge 36 hangs downwardly from the third edge 26 and the second lateral edge 38 hangs downwardly from the fourth edge 28. The top sheet 30 will have a length from the first end edge 32 to the second end edge 34 being equal to or greater than 80% of the length from the first end 22 to the second end 24 of the top panel 14.
  • A pillow case 40 is provided which comprises a sleeve 42 having an open end 44, a closed end 46 and a peripheral wall 48 extending between the open 44 and closed 46 ends. The pillow case 40, top sheet 30 and bottom sheet 12 may all be comprised of a similar material which will typically be a cloth material. A coupler 50 releasably couples the pillow case 40 to the top panel 14. The coupler 50 is positioned adjacent to the second edge 24. As shown in the Figures, the coupler 50 may include mating members of snaps, though other couplings means such as hook and loop couplers may be utilized. A fixed pillow case 40 may be utilized wherein the pillow case 50 is sewn to the top panel 14. A conventional pillow may be placed in the pillow case 50. As can be seen in the Figures, the pillow case 40 may actually include multiple pillow cases 50.
  • In use, the user of the assembly 10 places the bottom sheet 14 on the mattress 20 in a conventional manner such that the perimeter wall 16 extends downwardly around a periphery of the mattress 20. If the bottom edge 18 includes an elastic, resiliently stretchable material, then the bottom edge 18 may be allowed to move under the mattress 20 and urged inwardly from the material. If the bottom edge 18 does not include an elastic, it is simply tucked under the mattress 20. The top sheet 30 is then placed over the top panel 14 in its proper position. Because the top sheet 30 is attached to the bottom sheet 12, the user doesn't have to tuck in the top sheet 30 as well and the bed will be properly made. Likewise, the coupler 50 for the pillow case 40 ensures that the pillow is properly positioned.
  • With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
