In the known bust supports the breast pockets have a predetermined fixed position. Thus, a certain position and shape is given to the bust of the wearer. It often happens that the material of which the bust support is made shrinks in washing or the position and size of the breast pockets are altered by repeated washing. The desired shaping and support of the bust free from pressure will then not be obtained by the bust support. The bust support is therefore often useless after having been worn for a short time. It is, however, often the wish of ladies to be able to adapt the position and shape of the bust according to the actual requirements and taste, that is to raise or lower the breasts, to make them pointed, round or flattened, to shift them more towards the middle or laterally and to make them larger or smaller. This is not possible with the aid of the known bust supports.

The invention relates to a bust support with, which these possibilities can be achieved.

The characteristic feature of the invention consists in that in the edge portion projecting over the base of the breast pockets a plurality of folds opening in outward direction are arranged radially to the breast nipples and merge into the body portion of the bust support, whereas the breast pockets have on their edges eyes for maintaining the pockets on any desired portions of the bust support by means of a draw'band.

The problem which is solved by the invention is that the position of each breast pocket can be easily adjusted by the wearer to the individual shape of the body. This is of considerable importance in the case of bust supports because in the same it is not possible, owing to manufacturing reasons, to sufllciently take into consideration the difierences in the female body. Therefore in the case of a bust support not made to measure but bought approximately to size in a shop, it is possible according to the invention for the wearer to change the position of the breast pockets in a simple manner in the event. of their not accurately corresponding to the position of 45 the breasts, so that the edge of the breast pocket is situated exactly on the base of the breast protuberance. Only in this manner can the breast protuberances be supported by the breast pockets without exerting pressure and in the proper shape. The construction of the bust support accord ing to the invention possesses, however, a further advantage. As is known, ladies often have very large and drooping breasts. If these breasts are can'ied in raised position in breast pockets, they produce a strongly domed bust. Such a bust is, however, not desirable both on account of the taste and fashion. The subject matter of the invention renders it possible for ladies with large drooping breasts to form a small. firm bust. 5

When putting on the bust support, the breasts are pressed against the body in hanging position by the wide belt portion. The'soft texture of the breasts is thereby pressed flat or distributed towards the breast pockets and swells therein. The 10 breasts pockets are filled by this portion of the breasts and produce a suitably large and firmly shaped protuberance. The breast nipples at the same time may be artificially marked. The portion of the fabric extending under the lower edge 15 of the breast pockets, and in which loose folds are arranged, is pressed into the breast pocket, the folds thereby opening. The edge portion folds over in a fiat curve so that a gentle protuberance results which exerts no pressure like that of 20 sharp edges on the texture of the breasts.

An embodiment of the invention is illustrated by way of example in the accompanying drawing in which:

I claim:-

A breast holder, comprising in combination a body belt having two apertures, two breast pockets one on each aperture, said breast pockets being of larger diameter than said apertures so that a portion of the material of the body belt extends into said breast pocket, a plurality of folds radially extending from the edge of the apertures in said body belt open on the portion of the body belt extending from the edge of the breast pocket to the edge of said aperture, the remaining portion of said folds being closed by sewing, eyes on the outer edge of said breast pockets, and a draw band adapted to be threaded through said eyes of each breast pocket and the meshes of the fabric of said body belt to attach said breast pockets to said body belt.
