Abstract

A roll of centrally fed wipes includes a reinforced portion for facilitating threading of a dispensing opening in a dispenser. The reinforced portion includes a branched tag including at least two legs and a connecting end where the legs are connected and which connecting end is arranged to be the leading portion of the reinforced portion. A point of each leg includes resilient fastening means arranged to fold at least partly when the point is pushed through the fabric of the wipes and arranged to return at least partly to its original state in order to hinder a return of the fastening means through the fabric for load bearing purposes.

Description

    TECHNICAL FIELD
  • The present disclosure relates to a roll of centrally fed wipes comprising a reinforced portion for facilitating threading of a dispensing opening in a dispenser.
  • BACKGROUND
  • It is known from EP0599058 to use a stiff arrow like member that is attached by multiple hooks through a wipe material for aid in threading through a dispensing opening. However, that solution gives the disadvantage of the hooks sticking out on one side of the web material and thereby risking damaging the dispensing opening.
  • SUMMARY
  • There is a need to remedy the above deficiencies and find an improved roll of centrally fed wipes comprising a reinforced portion for facilitating threading of a dispensing opening in a dispenser.
  • According to the present disclosure, the reinforced portion comprises a branched tag comprising at least two legs and a connecting end where the legs are connected and which connecting end is arranged to be the leading portion of the reinforced portion. The point of each leg comprises resilient fastening means arranged to fold at least partly when the point is pushed through the wipe fabric and arranged to return at least partly to its original state in order to hinder a return of the fastening means through the wipe fabric.
  • One advantage of the present disclosure is that the fastening means are located on the opposite side of the wipe material with relation to the connecting end, which gives that when a user pulls the connecting end through the dispensing opening the fastening means becomes at least partly embedded in the web material and are thereby protected from damaging the dispensing opening. This is especially advantageous if the dispensing opening is made from a resilient and easily damaged material intended to have a close fit around the wipe material.
  • According to a first example, the points are arranged to be pushed through a common hole in the wipe fabric. In this example, it is also possible to reverse the process by pushing the connecting edge through the material which results in all legs in one hole.
  • According to a second example, the points are arranged to be pushed through different holes in the wipe fabric.
  • It should be noted that the holes can be pre-made or may be the result of the points penetrating the web material.
  • In both the first and second examples, the use of several fastening means distributes the load from the web material when a user having pushed the tag through the opening and drags the entire wipe material through the dispensing opening by holding the tag and applying force onto the wipe material via the legs and the fastening means.
  • The dispensing opening is made from a resilient material intended to apply friction to the wipe material when the roll of wipes, which are divided by laterally extending tearing lines, being dispensed should be ripped into one or more wipe sheets. When the user wants to dispense the wipes the wipe material is pulled essentially straight up from the dispensing opening and when the user wants to separate one or more sheets from the continuous roll of wipes the wipe material is pulled at an angle to the dispensing opening an thereby increasing friction between the dispensing opening and the wipe material so that the tearing lines break due to increased stretch force of the wipe material in the dispensing direction.
  • According to one example, each tag consists of exactly two legs. The advantage of this example is that two legs have proven to be a suitable amount to handle when pushing the tags through the wipe material.
  • According to one example, the fastening means comprises two pin shaped portions. The two pin shaped portions have proven to give a good load distribution so that the web does not break or rupture, and has proven to be easy to push through the web material for creating a hole without destroying too much material in the web material.
  • According to one example, the tag is made from plastic. However, any material is allowed as long as the material of the tag allows for penetrating a wipe web such that the pin shaped portions bend, i.e. folds, during penetration and then relaxes essentially to its initial state after penetration for load bearing purposes as described above. Thus alternative materials to plastic is rubber, silicone, reinforced structures and composition of structures comprising stiff materials for legs and pins and resilient material for the joints.
  • An example of a plastic tag suitable for wet wipes gives the dimensions:
  • Legs: 10 mm-60 mm, preferably 40 mm
  • Pin shaped portions: 4 mm-12 mm, preferably 8 mm.
  • It should be noted that depending on the material of the wet wipe web, more than two legs can be used in order to increase the load bearing properties of the tag. When using more than two legs, it is possible to either have all legs in one hole; or one leg per hole; or one leg in one hole and more than one leg in one hole or holes.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS
  • The present disclosure will be described in connection to a number of drawings, in which:
  • FIG. 1 schematically shows a dispenser comprising a roll;
  • FIG. 2 schematically shows an enhanced portion of the dispenser including the dispensing opening;
  • FIG. 3 schematically teaches an example of a tag;
  • FIG. 4 schematically teaches a first example of a tag reinforcing a part of the wipe material, and in which;
  • FIG. 5 schematically teaches a second example of a tag reinforcing a part of the wipe material.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION
  • FIG. 1 schematically shows a dispenser 1 comprising a roll 2 according to an embodiment. The roll 2 of centrally fed wipes 3 comprises a reinforced portion 4 for facilitating threading of a dispensing opening 5 in a dispenser 1. The reinforced portion 4 comprises a branched tag 6 comprising at least two legs 7 and a connecting end 8 where the legs 7 are connected and which connecting end 8 is arranged to be the leading portion of the reinforced portion 4, wherein the point 9 of each leg 7 comprises resilient fastening means 10 arranged to fold at least partly when the point 9 is pushed through the wipe 3 fabric and arranged to return at least partly to its original state in order to hinder a return of the fastening means 10 through the wipe fabric.
  • FIG. 2 schematically shows an enhanced portion of the dispenser including the dispensing opening 5. FIG. 2 shows that the dispensing opening 5 has a resilient portion 11 that has a tight fit around the wipe material 3.
  • FIG. 3 schematically teaches an example of a tag 6 according to an embodiment. FIG. 3 shows that each tag 6 comprises two legs 7. FIG. 3 shows that the fastening means 10 comprises two pin shaped portions 12.
