Abstract

A hand tamper for tamping ballast of a track comprises a shaft tube (3) in which a shaft (9) is supported which, at a lower end (4), is equipped with an imbalance (11). At least 30% of an overall height hu, extending in the longitudinal shaft direction (12), of the imbalance (11) is arranged below the upper edge (6) of a tamping blade (5).

Description

  • The invention relates to a hand tamper for tamping ballast of a track, including a drive motor for rotating a shaft which has a longitudinal shaft direction and is supported in a shaft tube and comprises an imbalance, the shaft being equipped at a lower end spaced from the drive motor with an imbalance, wherein the shaft tube is connected at a lower end spaced from the drive motor to a tamping blade which has an upper edge and a lower edge, with regard to the longitudinal shaft direction, the latter being spaced farther from the drive motor.
  • A hand tamper of this type is already disclosed in AT 239 296. The imbalance located in the shaft tube is situated above the tamping blade, with the latter being connected at its upper end to the shaft tube.
  • It is the object of the present invention to provide a hand tamper of the type mentioned at the beginning with which an improved compaction effect can be obtained.
  • According to the invention, this object is achieved with a hand tamper of the specified kind in that at least 30% of an overall height hu, extending in the longitudinal shaft direction, of the imbalance is arranged below the upper edge of the tamping blade.
  • As a result of shifting the vibrations effected by the imbalance into the blade region in this manner, it is possible to achieve a significantly improved compaction of the ballast. Additionally, the vibratory impact upon the handles positioned in the upper end region of the hand tamper is reduced.
  • Additional advantages of the invention become apparent from the dependent claims and the drawing description.
  • The invention will be described in more detail below with reference to embodiments represented in the drawing in which
  • FIGS. 1 and 2 show views of a hand tamper, and
  • FIGS. 3 to 9 show various details of the hand tamper shown only in the region of the tamping blade.
  • A hand tamper 1 shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 has a drive motor 8 which is connected to handles 2 and a shaft tube 3. Provided at a lower end 14, spaced from the drive motor 2, of the shaft tube 3 is a tamping blade 5. The latter has a height hs which is delimited, on the one hand, by an upper edge 6 which is closer to the drive motor 8 and, on the other hand, by a lower edge 7 situated in the lower end region of the shaft tube 3.
  • As visible in FIG. 4, a shaft 9 which is rotatable by means of the drive motor 8 about an axis or longitudinal shaft direction 12 is supported in the shaft tube 3. At a lower end 4 spaced from the drive motor 8, the shaft 9 comprises an imbalance 11 having an overall height hu extending in a longitudinal shaft direction 12. According to the illustrated variant of the invention, more than 50% of the overall height hu of the imbalance 11 is arranged below the upper edge 6 of the tamping blade 5.
  • As can be seen in FIGS. 3 and 4, the lower edge 14 of the shaft tube 3 as well as the imbalance 11 extend into a lower half 13, or to the lower edge 7, of the tamping blade 5. A blade plane 15 (FIG. 2) of the tamping blade 5 is arranged parallel to the longitudinal shaft direction 12. The lower end 14 of the shaft tube 3 is shaped so as to have a point 19 which is tapered cone-like toward the lower edge 7 of the tamping blade 5.
  • As visible in FIGS. 5 and 6, at least 30% of the overall height hu of the imbalance 11 is positioned below the upper edge 6 of the tamping blade 5.
  • In a variant shown in FIGS. 7 and 8, 100% of the imbalance is arranged between the upper and lower edge 6, 7 of the tamping blade 5. At the lower edge 14 of the shaft tube 3, a stabilizing fin 18 is provided which extends perpendicularly to the blade plane 15 of the tamping blade 5 and in the longitudinal shaft direction 12.
  • According to FIG. 9, the lower edge 14 of the shaft tube 3 is connected to a rear side 17—with regard to a tamping direction 16—of the tamping blade 5.
