Abstract
A modular furniture frame assembly includes a seat frame member and a top-mounted frame member. The seat frame member has a top side formed with a set of spaced apart slots. The top-mounted frame member is removably disposed on the top side of the seat frame member. The top-mounted frame member has a set of spaced apart fastening components that are fastened to the top-mounted frame member, that extend downwardly, removably and respectively through corresponding ones of the slots in the seat frame member, and that are fastened removably to the seat frame member.
Description
- 1. Field of the Invention
- The present invention relates to a modular furniture frame assembly, more particularly to a modular furniture frame assembly that is easy to assemble and disassemble.
- 2. Description of the Related Art
- Referring to
FIG. 1 , afurniture frame 8 of a conventional L-shaped sofa includes afirst frame structure 80, and asecond frame structure 90 arranged adjacent to thefirst frame structure 80. Thefirst frame structure 80 includes a firstseat frame member 81 having atop side 811, a first top-mountedframe member 82 disposed on thetop side 811 of the firstseat frame member 81, and a side-mountedframe member 83 connected to one side of the firstseat frame member 81. The first top-mountedframe member 82 serves as a backrest, whereas the side-mountedframe member 83 serves as an armrest. Thesecond frame structure 90 includes a secondseat frame member 91 that is arranged adjacent to another side of the firstseat frame member 81 opposite to the side-mountedframe member 83 and that has atop side 911, and a second top-mountedframe member 92 disposed on thetop side 911 of the secondseat frame member 91 to serve as a backrest. - Since the
furniture frame 8 cannot be disassembled and the size of thefurniture frame 8 is relatively large, the cost of transport and storage thereof is relatively high. - Therefore, an object of the present invention is to provide a modular furniture frame assembly that may be assembled and disassembled with relative ease.
- Accordingly, a modular furniture frame assembly of this invention comprises a seat frame member and a top-mounted frame member. The seat frame member has a top side formed with a set of spaced apart slots. The top-mounted frame member is removably disposed on the top side of the seat frame member. The top-mounted frame member has a set of spaced apart fastening components that are fastened to the top-mounted frame member, that extend downwardly, removably and respectively through corresponding ones of the slots in the seat frame member, and that are fastened removably to the seat frame member.
- Other features and advantages of the present invention will become apparent in the following detailed description of the preferred embodiment with reference to the accompanying drawings, of which:

FIG. 4 is an exploded fragmentary perspective view of the modular furniture frame assembly for illustrating one of fastening components of the first top-mounted frame member configured to be extended through a corresponding one of slots in the first seat frame member and to be fastened to a supporting beam of the first seat frame member; -
FIG. 5 is an exploded fragmentary perspective view of the modular furniture frame assembly for illustrating another one of the fastening components configured to be extended through one of the slots and to be fastened to first frame part of the first seat frame member; and -
FIG. 6 is a perspective view of another assembled configuration of the modular furniture frame assembly. - Before the present invention is described in greater detail, it should be noted that directions used in the following description are exemplarily defined with reference to a user sitting on a sofa for facilitating the description.
- Referring to
FIGS. 2 to 5 , the preferred embodiment of a modular furniture frame assembly of this invention is shown to be configured for an L-shaped sofa. The modular furniture frame assembly includes afirst frame structure 10, and asecond frame structure 20 disposed adjacent to and perpendicular to thefirst frame structure 10. - The
first frame structure 10 includes a firstseat frame member 1, a first top-mountedframe member 2 and a second top-mountedframe member 3 that are removably disposed on the firstseat frame member 1 side by side with each other, and a side-mountedframe member 4 fastened removably to a right side of the firstseat frame member 1. The first and second top-mountedframe members frame member 4 serves as an armrest. Thesecond frame structure 20 includes a secondseat frame member 5 arranged at a left side of the firstseat frame member 1, and a third top-mountedframe member 6 and a fourth top-mountedframe member 7 that are removably disposed on the secondseat frame member 5 and that serve as backrests. The third top-mountedframe member 6 is disposed between the second and fourth top-mountedframe members frame members frame member 7 is disposed adjacent to and perpendicular to the third top-mountedframe member 6. - The first
seat frame member 1 includes arectangular frame 11, and atop frame part 12 having atop side 121 that is formed with a spaced apart pair offirst slots 123 and a spaced apart pair ofsecond slots 124. Therectangular frame 11 is constructed of a pair offirst frame parts 111 disposed opposite to each other in a front-to-rear direction, a pair ofsecond frame parts 113 disposed opposite to each other in a right-to-left direction and each interconnecting corresponding ends of thefirst frame parts 111, and a supportingbeam 112 interconnecting thefirst frame parts 111 and being disposed between thesecond frame parts 113. Each of thesecond frame parts 113 is formed with three first assemblingholes 114 at a rear side thereof and four second assemblingholes 115 spaced apart from each other. The supportingbeam 112 is configured for supporting thetop frame part 12, and is formed with three third assemblingholes 116 corresponding to the first assemblingholes 114, respectively. - The first top-mounted
frame member 2 includes aframe body 22, and a pair of spaced apartfastening components 23. Theframe body 22 includes a spaced apart pair ofupright frame parts 24 having confrontinginner surfaces 21, and thefastening components 23 are fastened to theinner surfaces 21, respectively. Each of thefastening components 23 includes anupper leaf 231 fastened to a corresponding one of theinner surfaces 21, alower leaf 232 pivotally connected to theupper leaf 231 and formed with four throughholes 233, and a plurality of top-mountedframe member 2 is separated from the firstseat frame member 1, thelower leaf 232 can be pivoted upwardly so that thelower leaf 232 can be stored in theframe body 22 adjacent to theupper leaf 231. - Since the configuration of the second top-mounted
frame member 3 is similar to that of the first top-mountedframe 2, details thereof will be omitted herein for the sake of brevity. The second top-mountedframe member 3 includes a pair of spaced apartfastening components 33 fastened thereto. - The side-mounted
frame member 4 is formed with fourmounting holes 41 corresponding to the second assemblingholes 115 in one of thesecond frame parts 113, respectively. The side-mountedframe member 4 is fastened removably to a desired one of thesecond frame parts 113 using fourscrews 42 extending through themounting holes 41 and the second assemblingholes 115 in the desired one of thesecond frame parts 113, respectively. - Regarding the
second frame structure 20, since the configuration of the third and fourth top-mountedframe members frames 2, and since the configuration of the secondseat frame member 5 is similar to that of the firstseat frame member 1, details thereof will also be omitted herein for the sake of brevity. The secondseat frame member 5 includes atop side 51 formed with a spaced apart pair ofthird slots 125, a spaced apart pair offourth slots 126, and a spaced apart pair offifth slots 127. The third top-mountedframe member 6 includes a pair of spaced apartfastening components 63 fastened thereto, and the fourth top-mountedframe member 7 includes a pair of spaced apartfastening components 73 fastened thereto. Thethird slots 125 are configured for removable assembly of the third top-mountedframe member 6, and the pair of thefourth slots 126 and the pair of thefifth slots 127 are both configured for removable assembly of the fourth top-mountedframe member 7. - For example, when it is desired to assemble the modular furniture frame assembly, the side-mounted
frame member 4 is fastened removably to a right one of thesecond frame parts 113 of the firstseat frame member 1. Thelower leaf 232 of each of thefastening components 23 is pivoted downwardly, is exposed out of theframe body 22, and is extended downwardly and removably through a respective one of thefirst slots 123 in thetop side 121 of the firstseat frame member 1. Thelower leaf 232 can be fastened to a respective one of theinner surfaces 21 of theframe body 22 using a screw (not shown) extending through an uppermost one of the throughholes 233 into the corresponding one of theinner surfaces 21. Thelower leaf 232 of one of the fastening components (e.g., the right one) is fastened removably to a corresponding one of the second frame parts 113 (e.g., the right one) using thefasteners 234 extending through lower three of the throughholes 233 and the first assemblingholes 114 in the corresponding one of thesecond frame parts 113. Thelower leaf 232 of the other one of the fastening components 23 (e.g., the left one) is fastened removably to the supportingbeam 112 using thefasteners 234 extending through lower three of the throughholes 233 and the third assemblingholes 114 in the supportingbeam 112. Thus, structural strength of the modular furniture frame assembly is improved. Further, the firstseat frame member 1 and the first top-mountedframe member 2 can be furnished with cushions for the purpose of comfort. - Then, in a manner similar to that mentioned above, the
fastening components 33 of the second top-mountedframe member 3 are removably extended through thesecond slots 124 and are removably fastened to the left one of thesecond frame parts 113 and the supportingbeam 112, respectively, so as to removably fasten the second top-mountedframe member 3 to the firstseat frame member 1. Also, thefastening components 63 of the third top-mountedframe member 6 are removably extended through thethird slots 125 and are removably fastened to the secondseat frame member 5, and thefastening components 73 of the fourth top-mountedframe member 7 are removably extended through thefifth slots 127 and are removably fastened to the secondseat frame member 5. It should be noted that thefastening components 63 of the third top-mountedframe member 6 both are removably fastened to an opposite pair of frame parts 52 (seeFIG. 2 ) of the secondseat frame member 5. - Referring to
FIG. 6 , the modular furniture frame assembly of this embodiment can be assembled into a different configuration. The side-mountedframe member 4 is removably fastened to the left one of thesecond frame parts 113 of the firstseat frame member 1. Thesecond frame structure 20 is arranged at the right side of thefirst frame structure 10. The secondseat frame member 5 is adjacent to the right one of thesecond frame parts 113 of the firstseat frame member 1, and the fourth top-mountedframe member 7 is mounted on the secondseat frame member 5 through thefourth slots 126. - In summary, the
fastening components 23 of the first top-mountedframe member 2 are configured to be removably extended through thefirst slots 123, respectively, and thelower leaf 232 of each of thefastening components 23 can be removably fastened to therectangular frame 11 of the firstseat frame member 1. Therefore, the first top-mountedframe member 2 is stably and removably mounted on the firstseat frame member 1. Further, the first top-mountedframe member 2 can be removed from the firstseat frame member 1 by releasing thelower leaf 232 from theframe 11. Accordingly, the modular furniture frame assembly of this invention occupies a relatively small space during transportation and storage. - While the present invention has been described in connection with what is considered the most practical and preferred embodiment, it is understood that this invention is not limited to the disclosed embodiment but is intended to cover various arrangements included within the spirit and scope of the broadest interpretation so as to encompass all such modifications and equivalent arrangements.
Claims (9)
1. A modular furniture frame assembly comprising:
a seat frame member having a top side formed with a set of spaced apart slots; and
a top-mounted frame member removably disposed on said top side of said seat frame member, said top-mounted frame member having a set of spaced apart fastening components fastened to said top-mounted frame member, extended downwardly, removably and respectively through corresponding ones of said slots in said seat frame member, and fastened removably to said seat frame member.
2. The modular furniture frame assembly as claimed in claim 1 , wherein each of said fastening components includes:
an upper leaf fastened to said top-mounted frame member;
a lower leaf pivotally connected to said upper leaf, extended downwardly and removably through a respective one of said slots in said seat frame member, and formed with a plurality of through holes; and
a plurality of fasteners extended through said through holes to fasten removably said lower leaf to said seat frame member.

The modular furniture frame assembly as claimed in claim 2 , wherein said top-mounted frame member includes a spaced apart pair of upright frame parts having confronting inner surfaces, said inner surface of each of said upright frame parts having said upper leaf of a respective one of said fastening components fastened thereto.
4. The modular furniture frame assembly as claimed in claim 3 , wherein said seat frame member includes:
a pair of first frame parts disposed opposite to each other;
a pair of second frame parts disposed opposite to each other, each of said second frame parts interconnecting corresponding ends of said first frame parts; and
a supporting beam interconnecting said first frame parts and being disposed between said second frame parts.

The modular furniture frame assembly as claimed in claim 4 , wherein said lower leaf of one of said fastening components of said top-mounted frame member is fastened removably to one of said first frame parts, and said lower leaf of another one of said fastening components of said top-mounted frame member is fastened removably to said supporting beam.

The modular furniture frame assembly as claimed in claim 5 , further comprising another top-mounted frame member removably disposed on said top side of said seat frame member, fastened removably to one of said first frame parts and said supporting beam of said seat frame member, and disposed side by side with said top-mounted frame member.

The modular furniture frame assembly as claimed in claim 5 , further comprising another top-mounted frame member removably disposed on said topside of said seat frame member, fastened removably to said first frame parts of said seat frame member, and disposed to form an angle with said top-mounted frame member.
8. The modular furniture frame assembly as claimed in claim 4 , wherein said lower leaf of each of said fastening components of said top-mounted frame member is fastened removably to a respective one of said first frame parts.
9. The modular furniture frame assembly as claimed in claim 4 , further comprising a side-mounted frame member fastened removably to one of said second frame parts of said seat frame member.
