Description
July 16, 1935.
T. A. DARR INTERCHANGABLE SPINNING kCAP Filed May 18, 1954 Ilm ATTORNEY Patented July 16, 1935 UNITED STATES` PATENT OFFICE 1 Claim.
The invention relates to caps for spinning spindles of spinning machines and more especially to an interchangeable spinning cap. f
The primary object of the invention is the profvision of a cap of this character, wherein the bushing for the spindle in a spinning machine is readily replaceable and also the bell of such cap,
thereby obviating the necessity of the substitution of an entirely new cap when these parts become worn or unfit for use.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a cap of this character which is simple in construction, thoroughly reliable and eflicient in its purpose, readily and easily applied to and removed from the spindle on which the silk bobbin travels, strong, durable, and inexpensive to manufacture and install.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described in detail, illustrated in the accompanying drawing, which dis- Similar reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views in the drawing.
Referring to the drawing in detail, A designates c generally the stationary spindle on which travels the rotatable bobbin B as conventionally used in a silk spinning machine, while C is the pulley for supporting the bobbin, and upon the stationary spindle A is hung the cap constituting the present 5 invention and hereinafter fully described.
The cap constituting the present invention comprises a circular head I0 having a central hub I I and a marginal annular rim I2, the latter being provided with internal threads I3.
II is of hollow formation and is formed 'at its outer end with an inturned annular shoulder I4,` while fitted within this hub is a removable bushing I5, the latter having a central opening I6 for receiving the upper end of the spindle A, the opening being shaped correspondingly to the upper end ofsaid spindle for snug fitting thereon,
Separately connected with the hub I0 is a cylindrical ybell I'I, the same having an externally threaded end I8 for fitting with the threads I3 in 20 the rim I2 of the head I0. Y
It will be obvious that the bushing I5 when becoming worn can be replaced by a new bushing and lik'ewise when the bell I1 becomes rough or otherwise imperfect, such bell can be detached and a new bell substituted, or, the worn or disturbed bell II can be renished, as the occasion may require.
What is claimed is:
A cap of the kind described comprising a circular head having a central hollow hub projected from one side thereof and a marginal an.- nular rim extended from its other side, a bushing snugly fitted in and removable from the hollow hub and having an annular recess in its outer end, an overlap annular flange at the outer end of the hub for seating in said recess, and a bell detachably connected with the rim of said head.
