This invention relates to carriers for rolls such as rolls of toilet paper and of the type in which a roll can be placed on a movable support, pivoted to a wall, which exercises a frictional braking action upon the roll, thereby maintaining it stationary normally and restraining its motion during unwinding. The wall may be-formedby a back member or by the wall of I the room to which the carrier is attached. I
One object of the present invention is-to provide a generally improved carrier of the-aioresaid type, whichwill be simple to make.
Another object of the invention is to provide a carrier in which a roll may be; easily inserted.
Stillanother object is to provide a carrier of such construction that an inserted roll cannot slide out of the carrierdue to movement of the wall or backing member, which -may happen e. g. in cars and other vehicles, on board ships and aeroplanes.
In the carrier according to the invention the support comprises a pin, on which the roll can be applied by extending the pin into a bore of the roll, said pin cooperating with a movable stop, which moves corresponding to a movement of the pin, in respect to the wall to which the carrier is attached, such that the roll is prevented in any case from leaving the pin.
The stop may form part of the pin or it may be constituted by a separate movable member. In the first case the stop may consist of a hookshaped end of one leg of a U-shaped support,
said leg forming the pin.
In the latter case the separate member may consist of a front plate, which is adapted to press against the pin-supported roll, such as to obtain at the same time an increased braking effect, which is particularly desirable when only a small amount of paper or the like remains in the roll. The front plate may be provided with upstanding flanges forming the stop. In addition, the said member may be made to serve as a cover in order to prevent dust and other contaminating matter from being deposited upon the roll and the exposed surfaces of the back member and rollsupport. Moreover the front member may be so made as to enhance the appearance of the holder.
It should be noted that the stop according to the invention should follow in some way the motion of the roll-support. If e. g. the stop would be applied as a fixed stop to the backing member, the roll may still glide from the pin upon movement from the wall, a position of the roll being possible in-whiohsame is removed a considerable distance from the wall. e H

A lost-motionconnection may be provided between the separate member and the roll-support, the said connection being such that it permits the front member to be freely rotated through a certain angle until a positive interconnection is, established after which the front vmember is accompanied by the roll support in any further rotating or lifting movement.

In the drawing, there is shown a paper roll I, a U-shaped roll-support 8, a back member 9 and a front-plate I0. The horizontal limbs of the roll-support 8 are indicated at II and I2. The roll I is carried by the limb I2.
The limb II is rotatable about pivots, formed by the flat ends of screws I3, which pass through axial holes in the ends of the limb II and which are screwed in forwardly extending side flanges I4 of the flat back plate 9. The front member IE] is alsoconstituted by a substantially flat plate with rearwardly extending side flanges I5. The support 8 and the plates 9 and I0 are connected pivotally about the main axis of the limb II, the plate I0 being rotatable about the screws I3. The flanges I4 and I5 are provided such that the carrier (when no roll is inserted) can be folded together the inner surfaces of the flanges I5 fitting then neatly over the outer surfaces of the flanges I4.
It can be seen in the drawing that the roll supported in the limb I2 is enclosed between the support B and the side flanges I I and I5, which form also partial covers for the roll. The top of the front plate I0 is arcuate and passes partly around the pivots I3. In this arcuate part at one side a slit I6 is provided, through which extends a pin II, which is fixed to the limb II.
This pin and slot connection forms a lostmotion connection between the support 8 and the plate It], the plate l being enabled to be lifted first until the roll I is freed from the flanges l and thereafter the support 8 is carried off with the plate, when av wall part of the slit l6 abuts against the pin 11. Then the roll may be taken from the limb l 2 and replaced by a new one.
After lowering the plate vIt] the roll is pressed against the back member and the carrier is again in readiness for use.
It is to be understood that the invention is applicable to holders having other forms of 'rollsupport. For example the roll support may be approximately of inverted U-shape, with inturned bottom ends engaging a roller adapted to be passed through the bore of the roll.
What I claim is:
1. Carrier for rolls of toilet-paper and like rolls consisting of a movable support for the roll, said support comprising a pin, on which the roll can be applied by entering the pin into a bore of the roll, a, movable front cover plate with which the pin cooperates and which is adapted to press the pin supported roll on to a wall, said front plate being provided with a stop'for limit ing longitudinal movement of the roll. 1
2. Carrier for rolls of toilet-paper and like rolls consistingof a movable support for the roll, said support comprising a pin, on which the roll can be applied by entering the pin into a bore of the roll, a separatevmember to which the roll support is connected, and a, stop associated with said separate member for limiting longitudinal movement of the roll including a lost motion connection such that the member is freely rotatable over a certain angle and afterwards rotates the roll support.
3. Carrier for rolls of toilet paper and like rolls consisting of a movable support for the roll,
said support comprising a pinon which the roll can be applied by entering the pin into a bore of the roll, a movable front plate to which the roll support is connected, said front plate being provided .with upstanding flanges acting as a l stop'and suspended from the same axis as the roll support, and a connection between said roll support and said front plate of the lost-motion type, such that the front plate is freely rotatable over a certain angle and afterwards carries off the roll support. 5 V

Carrierrfor rolls of toilet-paper and like rolls consisting 'of a movable support for the roll, said support comprisingja pin on which the roll can be applied by entering the pin into a bore of the roll, a movable front plate to which the roll support is connected, said front plate being provided with upstanding flanges acting as a stop and suspended from thesame axis asthe roll support, a connection between said ,roll support and said front plate being of the lost-motion type such that the front plate is freely rotatable over a certain angle and afterwards carries off the roll support, and a back member being provided having forwardly directed side flanges which fit neatly against the innersurfaces of the flanges of the front plate;
5. A holder for a roll ,of'toilet'paper and the like comprising a back; member adapted to be Secured to a wall, a roll supportpivoted to said back member having-a pin portion adapted to enter the bore of the roll, anda front roll cov-v ering plate pivotally supported to bear by gravity against the roll to apply frictional resistance against rotation, of the roll. a
