A simple configuration and a secure application is achieved in such a way that the two profile sections (6, 7) can be swiveled against each other by a first hinge (8) about an axis parallel to the longitudinal axis of the profiles (4, 5) and that the two profile sections (6, 7) of the fastening profile (4) comprise receptacles (9, 10) for the cover profile (5) which can be inserted into the fastening profile (4) in the manner of a snap-in connection.
Description
- The invention relates to a profile system for producing corner formations in dry construction, comprising a fastening profile which consists of two profile sections and a cover profile that can be attached to the fastening profile in order to form a corner of a room.
- The formation of corners of rooms in dry construction is a problem that is currently not completely solved in a satisfactory manner. It is common practice for example to lay building boards such as gypsum plasterboards or fibrous plasterboards up to the area of the corner of the room and to trowel the remaining gap with filling material. Corner profiles can be used optionally in order to avoid the likelihood of formation of fissures. In any case, the production of an accurately made corner of a room causes a relatively high amount of work. Moreover, the accurate performance requires a respective amount of expert knowledge and experience.
- Solutions are further known in which the building boards abutting the corner of the room are inserted into profiles which have a bending edge. The production of a corner of a room with such systems requires a high amount of work because as a rule the coupling is required already during the laying of the building boards. Solutions of the kind mentioned above have already been described for example in DE 31 38 380 A, EP 0 849 415 B or DE 94 09 351 U.
- U.S. Pat. No. 1,772,417 A discloses a profile system for producing corner formations in dry construction. Said profile system consists of a fastening profile and a cover profile which can be attached to the fastening profile. Both profiles consist of two profile sections each which are mutually swivellable in the manner of a hinge. As a result of the constructive configuration, such a corner formation is relatively complex to produce. Furthermore, a profile system is known from U.S. Pat. No. 5,459,969 A which is also suitable for dry construction. As in the solutions described above, laying is very difficult because of the coupling of the adjacent building boards.
- It is the object of the present invention to provide a solution which can be produced in an easy and cost-effective way, with such solution placing low requirements on expert knowledge, skill and experience of the persons producing the corner connection. In particular, the corner connection shall be producible in the manner that the building boards are laid at first up to the area of the corners of the rooms and the formation of the corner is made thereafter. Preferably, the demands made on precision during the laying of the building boards should be as low as possible, so that there is a tolerance relative to the different distances of the edges of the building boards from the corner of the room. It is a further object of the invention to provide a system which substantially compensates any imprecision and irregularities of the furring and also allows lining the corners of rooms which are not aligned in a precisely rectangular manner.
- It is provided in accordance with the invention that the two profile sections can be swivelled against each other by a first hinge about an axis parallel to the longitudinal axis of the profiles and that the two profile sections of the fastening profile comprise receptacles for the cover profile which can be inserted into the fastening profile in the manner of a snap-in connection.
- The relevant aspect of the invention is that the fastening profile adjusts automatically to the corner of the room, so that for fastening the cover profile a predetermined geometrical situation is obtained even when there is imprecision, be it by imperfect furring or improper processing. The system in accordance with the invention allows lining not only inside corners, but also outside corners, and, in the case of a respective configuration, also corners which do not form a right angle. The building boards are finally laid prior to the production of the corner connection. Only very low requirements are placed on the quality of the corner facing the corner of the room and its distance to the edge.
- An especially easy kind of laying can be obtained in such a way that the two profile sections of the fastening profile comprise receptacles for the cover profile which can be inserted into the fastening profile in the manner of a snap-in connection. This allows correcting any defects before the corner connection is completed.
- It has proven to be especially advantageous in this connection when the receptacles of the two profile sections of the fastening profile are arranged as grooves with a dovetail-shaped cross section. A simple arrangement can thus be combined with especially easy processing.
- An especially simple solution is achieved in such a way that the first hinge is arranged as a film hinge. It is thus especially possible that the fastening profile consists of an integrally made PVC profile. This offers the possibility to extrude the profile in a cost-effective way. The same applies to the cover profile.
- A further especially preferred embodiment of the invention provides that the cover profile consists of two cover strips which are connected with each other in a swivellable manner by a second hinge. In conjunction with an integrally arranged fastening profile, a system can thus be produced which merely consists of two simply arranged components.
- Within the terms of an especially simple arrangement of the cover profile it is also appropriate here too that the second hinge is arranged as a film hinge.
- An especially high tolerance against imprecision in the laying of the building boards is achieved in such a way that the cover strips of the cover profile each comprise a cover tongue which is provided to cover an adjacent building board.
- The laying and processing of the system in accordance with the invention is substantially facilitated in such a way that a heat-sealing strip is provided on the rear side of the cover tongue. The connection with the building boards can thus be produced in the manner of a trimming strip. The possibility is further advantageous to make corrections prior to the final laying which is made by the activation of the heat-sealing strip if the result of the work is unsatisfactory. In this respect it is also advantageous when the cover profile comprises latching elements which can be brought into detachable engagement with the fastening profile.
- The cover profile is preferably laminated with paper. The same material as in the gypsum plasterboards can be used here. The same base is thus available for painting, so that no special measures need to be taken for avoiding differences in colour.
- It is especially advantageous when there is a slight amount of play between the fastening profile and the cover profile. This play allows compensating changes in length in the gypsum plasterboards which are caused thermally or by changes in the humidity of the air.
- An especially cost-effective solution provides that the latching elements are arranged as PVC profiles.
- The invention is now explained in closer detail by reference to embodiments shown in the drawings.
FIGS. 1, 2 and 3 show sectional views of different embodiments. - The brickwork or other ground on which the corner formation in accordance with the invention is produced is generally designated with
reference numeral 1.Building boards fastening profile 4 is fastened to theground 1 between said intermediate space, which profile consists of twoprofile sections first hinge 8 about an axis parallel to the longitudinal axis ofprofile 4. Thefirst hinge 8 is arranged as a film hinge, i.e. this concerns a thinning of a material which allows the pivoting movement which is necessary for producing the position as shown inFIG. 1 . -
Receptacles profile sections Hollow chambers 11 for reducing the material input are arranged beneath thegrooves -
Latching elements cover profile 5 can be inserted in the tworeceptacles grooves Receptacles latching elements fastening profile 4 can be fastened to theground 1. - The two
latching elements second hinge 16 with each other, which is also formed by a thinning of material. On the side remote from thesecond hinge 16, two covertongues building boards - The embodiment of
FIG. 2 differs from that ofFIG. 1 mainly in such a way that thefirst hinge 8 rests in the assembled state directly on thesecond hinge 16, which thus ensures that even considerable deviations from the right angle can be tolerated easily. Moreover, the snap-in connection between thefastening profile 4 and thecover profile 5 is solved from a geometrical standpoint in an alternative manner in the embodiment shown here. - The embodiment of
FIG. 3 shows the case of a convex corner of a room, i.e. a corner that protrudes inwardly. Thefirst hinge 8 is arranged directly on the edge of the wall in the assembled state. Thesecond hinge 16 forms the final edge, withmaterial accumulations cavity 23 in the region of the edge. The embodiment ofFIG. 3 also showsbores - The embodiments as shown above each comprise an integrally arranged
fastening profile 4 and an integrally arrangedcover profile 5 which are both extruded from PVC. - The present invention allows producing the corner formation in dry construction in appealing design, true to dimension and at low cost.
