Abstract
An adjustable pair of trousers (2) characterized in that said trousers comprise, at the extremity of each leg, a hook strip (5) of a first variety and at least two hook strips of a second variety which are set back from the extremity of each leg (3), wherein the extremity of each leg (3) can be folded back in order to form a hem (4), wherein said hook strip (5) of a first variety is affixed upon one of the hook strips (6) of the second variety; also characterized in that said trousers comprise at least two pockets (8) at different heights on each leg, wherein each pocket (8) enables a knee protection (10) to be accommodated therein.
Description
- The present invention relates to a pair of pants of adjustable size, designed in particular for motorcycling.
- As the morphology of motorcyclists may vary, it is necessary, for the same size of pants, to adapt the length of the legs for each wearer.
- It is thus possible for a manufacturer to provide several leg lengths for the same size of pants. However, this solution is not satisfactory as it means that many models have to be stored at the manufacturer's or retailer's premises.
- Consequently, retailers often order pants in a single leg length and then hem them themselves or hire somebody to do so.
- Motorcycle pants have a knee protector on each leg. However, the difference in morphology among motorcyclists means that it is not possible, a priori, to position these protectors in the right place for each wearer.
- Motorcycle pants are moreover designed to be worn on the outside, in conditions in which the wearing of a belt is not desirable from the user's viewpoint. However, it is desirable to be able to adjust the pants at the waist.
- It thus appears that the motorcycle pants known in the prior art are not adapted to the morphology of motorcyclists, making them uncomfortable and preventing the protectors from being effective.
- To solve this technical problem, the aim of the present invention is to provide a pair of pants of adjustable size, making it possible to adapt the pants to a morphology, without prior alteration, and to position the protectors in the right place to ensure their effectiveness.
- To this end, the present invention relates to a pair of adjustable pants which comprises, at the end of each leg, an attachment strip of a first type and at least two attachment strips of a second type set back from the end of each leg, in which the end of each leg can be folded back to form a hem, the attachment strip of the first type becoming fastened to one of the attachment strips of the second type, and which comprises at least two pockets at two different heights on each leg, each pocket being capable of housing a knee protector.
- This arrangement makes it possible to adapt, without sewing, the length of the legs to the morphology of the motorcyclist and to position the protectors in the right place on the knee.
- Advantageously, the attachment strips are positioned substantially parallel to the end opening in the leg of the pants.
- According to one advantageous feature, the attachment strips are located on the inside face of each leg of the pants. Thus, the excess fabric of each leg is kept on the inside, thus not adversely affecting the appearance of the clothing.
- Advantageously, at least one pocket is positioned on the inside of the leg of the pants.
- According to one embodiment, at least one pocket has a reclosable opening.
- Advantageously, the pants have a belt comprising, at both ends, two attachment strips of a first type designed to attach on to two attachment strips, respectively, of a second type located on the waist of the pants.
- According to one embodiment, the pants comprise a loop extending across the whole of the back of the waist, to hold the belt.
- Advantageously, the attachment strips of a first and second type are male and female textile attachment strips with hooks and loops, respectively, for example of the type known under the trademark Velcro.
- The invention will be more clearly understood with the aid of the following description, with reference to the attached schematic drawing showing an embodiment of this pair of pants.
-
FIG. 1 is a general view from the front. -
FIG. 2 is an enlarged partial sectional view along II-II inFIG. 1 . -
FIG. 3 is an enlarged partial sectional view showing the adjustable hem. -
FIGS. 1, 2 and 3 show a pair of pants 2 according to the invention. These pants 2 comprise two legs 3, each leg 3 having at its lower end an adjustable hem 4 comprising: -
- a
male attachment strip 5 located at the end of the leg 3, - three female attachment strips 6 set back from the end of the leg 3,
thesestrips 5, 6 being positioned parallel to the end opening 7 in the leg 3.
- a
- The way in which this adjustable hem 4 works is shown in
FIG. 3 . Themale attachment strip 5 is folded towards the inside of the end opening 7 in the leg and placed on top of one of the female attachment strips 6, to which it becomes fastened. - Thus the length of the leg 3 is reduced by a length corresponding to half the initial distance, before folding, between the
male attachment strip 5 and the female attachment strip 6 to which the male attachment strip 6 is fastened. - The presence of three female attachment strips 6 allows the length of the leg to be adjusted by three different amounts, without sewing.
- The male 5 and female 6 attachment strips are, in this embodiment, made of textile strips with hooks and loops, respectively, for example of the type known under the trademark Velcro.
- At the knee, each leg 3 has two
pockets 8 positioned at two different heights. Each of these pockets has a reclosable opening 9. - Each of these
pockets 8 is capable of housing aknee protector 10, which can thus be housed at two different heights to protect the motorcyclist's knee by adapting to his morphology. - Each leg 3 has, in addition, a reinforced outer area 12, shown only in
FIG. 2 . - At the
waist 13, the pants 2 have abelt 14 which is shorter than the circumference of thewaist 13, thisbelt 14 comprising, at bothends 15, male attachment strips designed to interact withfemale attachment strips 16 positioned laterally on thewaist 13 of the pants 3. - In this embodiment, the male 15 and female 16 end attachment strips consist of textile strips with hooks and loops, respectively, for example of the type known under the trademark Velcro.
- The
waist 13 of the pants 2 hasloops 17 to hold thebelt 14, one of these loops 17 (not shown) extending across the whole of that part of thewaist 13 which is designed to be positioned on the motorcyclist's back. - The invention is not limited to the embodiment described, but on the contrary encompasses all variants thereof. Thus, in particular, the number of
female attachment strips 5 for the adjustable hem 4 may vary, thus varying the number of possible leg 3 lengths. Likewise, the number ofpockets 8 forhousing knee protectors 10 may vary.
