Patented May 7, 1935 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE LINGERIE CLASP Marie Blanche Desrosiers, East Springfield, Mass.
Application October 11, 1934, Serial No. 747,864
4 Claims.
This invention relates to improvements in lingerie clasps of the type for retaining and holding in place the movable shoulder straps of an under garment.
An object of the present invention is to provide means for quickly attaching the clasp to the seam, or other part of a dress, or other garment.
A further object is to provide means for readily inserting and removing a shoulder strap, without removing the clasp from the dress, or other garment.
Broadly, my invention comprises a one-piece member having its opposite ends bent towards each other and with a suitable space left between the adjacent, inner ends of the folded members for inserting the shoulder strap.
Referring to the drawing:
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the complete article, showing the space between the bent ends and the pin for attaching the clasp to a garment, and
Fig. 2 is a sectional view of the article, showing it attached in place on a garment with shoulder, or other straps, in place.
Referring to the drawing in detail:-
5 designates the complete article, as a whole; 2 and 3, the bent end portions that are spaced apart at their inner ends, as indicated at 4. The ends 2 and 3 are an integral part of the base, or bottom portion 5, which is considerably longer than either one of the bent end portions 2 or 3.
An attaching pin is shown at 6. This pin is secured to the inner end portion of the bent portion 3, in any suitable way, as shown at 1, which may be by brazing it to the rolled portion 8, of the portion 3, as shown. The sharpened end 9 of the pin 6 is normally retained under a housing, or protecting member 10, but may be readily moved sidewise for insertion into the seam ll of the shoulder part l2 of a dress, or other garment. l3 indicates the shoulder straps or" an undergarment, two of which are illustrated. These shoulder, or other straps, are inserted and removed through the passageway 4, as readily understood. After being inserted, they will not become displaced, since they will lie flat, as shown in Fig. 2, and may slide freely back and forth, in the space between the base 5 and the portions 2 and 3. It is, of course, understood that the device is not limited for retaining shoulder straps in place, as it may be employed for preventing a belt from becoming displaced, but may slide freely therein.
It is also to be understood that the article may be made or" any suitable material, as aluminum, ivory, or molded bakelite of any suitable color, as desired, for matching the color of a garment.
I do not limit myself to any particular size, or 5 dimension. I
What I claim is new is:-
1. As an article i manufacture, a flat onepiece member having a base portion and integral free inner end portions spaced from the base 1 portion and with their-free inner ends spaced from each other, pin means on one of the integral ends forattaching the article to a garment when in use.
2. As an article of manufacture, a flat onepiece member, a base portion having free integral bent end portions of unequal length and extending towards each other in the same plane with their inner ends spaced from each other and from the base portion, means on the longer one of the bent ends for attaching the article to a garment when in use, said means comprising a pin device, the longer bent end having a rolled end to which. the pin is connected, and means for normally housing the pointed end of the pin device, the construction and arrangement being such that the pin device may be moved laterally when the pin is to be inserted into a dress or other garment, as described.
3. A lingerie clasp device comprising, a fiat one-piece member having a base portion, integral end portions on and above the base portion that extend toward each other in the same plane which are parallel to the base portion and in spaced relation to each other to permit the insertion of a shoulder strap, or the like, spaced end portions being spaced from the base portion for providing a space to receive shoulder straps, or the like, to permit free longitudinal movement of the shoulder strap in the spaced portion, and also to prevent the accidental removal of a shoulder strap when located on the base portion.
i. A lingerie clasp comprising, a flat one-piece member having a base portion and end portions of unequal length that are spaced from the base 45 portion and their free ends spaced from each other and in the same plane for providing an entrance openingfor the insertion of a shoulder strap, or the like, and pin means on one of the end portions for attaching the clasp to a gar- 50 ment, as described.
