This invention relates to razors and particfor purposes presently to be described. The boss ularly to safety razors. More particularly my 3e is also provided with angularly directed bores invention relates to razors adapted to hold blades 371, and 370. The former is tapped to receive thehaving a plurality of outtingedges which may threaded portion Za'of the handle 2. To the pendth'at only oneof the cut- 40 Figure 6 illustrates a view partly in section and ting edges may be accessible the blade itself fits 40 partly in elevation of a modified form of holder within the depressed portion formed by the ribs and blade; and 3a previously described. In this manner there is Figure 7 is a vertical section taken on the line no danger to the operator of being cut by any 77 of Figure 6 showing optional means of of the unused edges of the 1 blade. When the tightening a blade. 7 V members 3 and 5 arethus assembled the handle 45 ,Referring to the same parts throughout the 2 is screwed tight and the razor is ready for several views by the same reference characters use. If the member 3 is provided with the set I designate a handle by the numeral 2.' The screw 6 this is additionally tightened till its end handle 2 is preferably provided with a knurled frictionally engages the stem 5b. 7 I surface 21) and a narrowed threaded portion 2a. I the modified form shown in Figures'fi and 7 50 The threaded handle 2, a flat blade holder 3 a, iJ-shaped member 3:0 is integrally formed with and arazor blade 5-formthe essential components the boss 3. A collar 8 slidably mounted inthe' of this invention. The flat holder 3 is preferably top of the member 3m is internally threaded to provided with an integrally formed boss 36 on receive the tapped portion 5 on the stem 51). 55 the one side and has a bored central opening 39 An enlarged knurled flange 8a is provided at one 55 end of the collar while the other end is flanged or riveted as at 8b to prevent the collar from sliding out when the blade stem is removed. In this manner the blade may be tightened against the face of the blade holder 3.
Special attention is directed to the shaft 4 which slides freely within the sleeve 5b. Shaft 4 and sleeve 5b may have any shape and since the sleeve is an integral part of the blade the shaft 4 provides means for removing the blade without danger to the operator of being cut. If the razor handle is held ready for use the weight of the shaft 4 causes it tofall downwardly and assume the dotted positions shown in Figures 1, 5, 6 and '7 which if placed as shown in full line in these figures the weight of the shaft will cause to slide down. The turned edge 4a contiguous to the blade in its operative position presents no interference to the full and complete use of the blade, since it is substantially flush with the face of the blade.
It will be apparent that the construction shown is simple and economical to manufacture and one in which parts may be eliminated if desired for any reason by those skilled in the art to which my invention relates. Obviously, many modifications of the invention are possible as suggested by the drawing and specifications and included within the scope of the appended claims.
