To this end our improved razor consists, aside from certain fastening devices, of only or card-board cover, a comb guard for four parts, to wit: a paper a guard plate, a blade and the blade, all constructed and arranged as hereinafter set forth.
In the accompanying spective back view of drawing Fig. l is a perthe improved razor in folded or pocket shape. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the same with the parts in position for use. i
Fig.
3 is a front viewwith the partsdisposed as in Fig. 2. Fig. 4 is an right of Figs. 2 and 3.
edge view' looking from the Fig. 5 is a section on line foldable cover prefer cover comprising an 12 adapted to be tucked ably of thin cardboard, said infolded flap 12 and a tab beneath said flap when the parts of the razor are in folded or pocket position. The body of the cover, clinched staples 13.
flap 12 is suitably secured to the at its outer side parts, as by This fastened down flap affords a pocket in which said tabfits to hold the doubled partsof the cover together flatwise to afford a handle.
Attached to the cover 12 and to each other,
preferably by eyelet 15, a blade 16 on said blade, turned lip 1'7 back From the foregoin said and a rivets 14, are a guard comb guard plate 1'1 superposed guard plate having an inof the blade 16.
g it will be understood that our improved razor consists of few simple parts which may be readily manufactured and which may be easily adjusted from folded or pocket position to operative or usable position. The
15 consists of a guard comb may be readily stamped out then be bent into ope drawing. The cover vertising material men with packages 0 printed thereon,
single piece which of sheet metal, and rative shape as shown in the may have any suitable adas is com- I card-board matches. The
cover 12 is suitably creased transversely so that it will naturally fold at predetermined places,
either to closed or what appears as in Fig. 1 is folded the other flap to operative positions. When the upper flap of the cover backward flatwise toward the position shown in Figs. 4
and 5, to adjust the parts for shaving, these two flaps, supplementing serve as a handle to be grasped by the fingers of the user, as
that
It may be noted comb guard, with its and stiffening each other, thumb and will be understood.
the one-piece doubled inner and outer parts separated, affords a considerable space, back of the comb or toothed part of said guard, for the reception of lather which may accumulate in shaving.
The lather will be received in the pocket afforded by the upturned parts of the doubled comb guard, as will be understood by reference to Figs. 4 and 5.
, Having thus described our invention we claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent: I
1. A safety razor comprising a foldable flexible cover of thin cardboard, suitably creased transversely so that it will fold at predetermined places, and having an infolded flap attached at its outer side parts to the body of said cover, thus affording a pocket, said cover having also a tab adapted to be inserted in said pocket, a one-piece doubled comb-guard, a blade, a metal guard plate overlying said blade and said comb guard, and means for securing said parts together, said blade being interposed between said comb guard and said.
guard plate. I
2. A safety razor comprising a foldable flexible cover of thin cardboard suitably creased transversely so that it places, a doubled one-piece combguard member having separated inner and outer partsaffording a lather-receiving pocket back of its front, a blade, a metal guard plate overlying said blade and said comb guard, and means for securing said parts together, said blade being interposed between said comb guard and said guard plate.
3. A safety razor comprising a flexible cover of thin cardboard suitably creased transversely so that it will fold at predetermined places, a doubled one-piece comb guard affording a pocket for the reception of lather, a blade, a metal guard plate overlying said blade and comb guard and having an inturned lip back of said blade, and means for securing said parts together, said blade being interposed between said comb "guard and said guard. plate. v p
4. A safety razor according to claim 3 in which the flexible cover is adapted to be doubled on itself flatwise to form a handle, said cover having will fold at predetermined V a tab and also a pocket in which said tab fits to THEODORE G. MCGIRR. THEODORE M. HUSCH.
