' 2 claims. Cifras-187i v f v Y I'his invention relates to an accessory or ap- In order to maintain the finger 20 in contact purtenance for use on conventional looms, and with the crank arm 11 and to provide the desired it has more specic reference to a structure which timed tension release action, I provide a coiled is properly described as a tension release mechspring 18', the same being secured as at 19 to the msnm peculiarly bent portion 16 of the rocker 14. A 5 Brieiiy, the inventive conception comprehends link 20 serves to anchor the spring to the leg 10 the provision of a novel mechanism especially dethrough the. medium of an attaching bracket 21. vised and constructed to release the tension on The oscillatory actuator 14 is provided with aV shuttle when the picker is ready to throw'desired tension producing means which is here the shuttle across. shown in the form of an arm 22 having a collar l0 The purpose of the invention is to provide an 23 adjustably secured by set screws 24 on the automatically operable tension release mecharocker shaft 15. Thus the armvmay be described nism designed to permit a loom to be run at high asa rocker arm, and its free end is bent into V- speed without burning pickers, saving on the shaped form as indicated at 25 and the apex porpick motion, such as picker sticks, pickers, pick` tion 26 thereof cci-operates with the hinged leaf 8 l5 rolls, and shoes, and otherwise fullling the rewhich in turn bears against the adjacent shuttle. quirements of the mechanism of this class in a Each leaf or binder 8 has a plate 8 attached highly satisfactory manner. thereto which is engaged by the portion 26 of the In the drawings: arm 22, as shown in Figures 1 and 3, and these Figure 1 is a front elevational view of the lay plates partly bridge the spaces between the leaves 20 of a conventional 100m With the Oscillatory terlor binders 8. arm 11. y It is thought from the foregoing description 55 that the advantages and novel features of the invention will be readily apparent.
It is to be understood that changes may be made in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts provided that such changes fall4 within the scope of the appended claims.
I claim:
1. An attachment for a loom, said loom comprising a crank arm, a lay sword a shuttle binder and a shuttle box, said attachment comprising bracket means attachable to said loom, a rocker shaft mounted for 'oscillation in said bracket means, means carried by said rocker shaft for cooperation with said crank arm, a rocker arm carried by said rocker shaft and cooperable with said shuttle binder of said' shuttle box, spring means cooperable with said rocker shaft and attachable to said lay sword to maintain said arm in yieldable operative position, and a plate attached to said shuttle binder and engaged by a part of said rocker arm and on which said partv of said rocker arm rides while said shuttle box is being shifted.
2. An attachment for a loom, said loom comprising a crank arm a lay sword and a shuttle box, said attachment comprising bracket means attachable to said loom, a rod member mounted for oscillation in said bracket means and so formed between its ends as to form a rocker shaft and an upstanding trip member, a bracket on the upper portion of said trip member including-a finger cooperable with said crank arm, a spring attached to the intermediate portion of said rod member and having means for anchorage-to said lay sword, and a rocker arm secured to said rocker shaft having its upper portion offset and cooperable with said shuttle box.
