The group of wire mesh sheets and the expanded metal sheets are clamped in the relation shown by two sheet metal channels 21, one arranged at each end with the web' portion of each channel projecting 1/4", or some other suitable distance for cooperation with guides 22 in Ithe conduit, where the lter unit is to be used.`
This construction provides for easy insertion and withdrawal in and from the conduit.

In one instance, for example, where the lter element s195g" Wide and 11% high, a tank holding two quarts and a sump holding sixr quarts has been found satisfactory.
