while constructed to close the opening formed by thedoor frame, are constructed in such a manner that there is always considerable space between the base of the door frame and the base of the door. Usually the door latch is suificient to hold the door firmly in closed position during the early life of the car but rattling of the doors invariably develops after a short while. Various methods have been employed to avoid this rattling, such as the employment of buffer members on the side .of the door or door frame, these buffer members constituting any convenient device which might be ready to hand such as thin sheets of rubber,

In order to overcome the difficulty it is necessary to provide a device of extremely simple. construction, of wear resisting character and positioned in a manner to contact firmly withthe door and to the best advantage.

Referring more particularly to the drawing, A indicates the device as a whole comprising a pad 10 of resilient material, preferably rubber, which is reduced in thickness preferably from the middle towards the outer edge 11 to provide a structure of substantially wedge-shaped form, having a main bearingsurface 12 arranged in a horizontal plane between the middle of the pad and'its inner edgewhich terminates in a substantially flat surface 13 disposed in a vertical plane. The pad is covered with a flexible wear resisting material 14; such as thin metal, in such a manner thatfthe upper surface and the outer edge 11 at least are encased, it being preferable to encase both the outer and inneredges Hand 12 as well as the upper surface.

It is obvious, therefore, that I have provided a device of extremely simple form whichmay be mounted firmly in position with; anminimmn oj efhfort and which will overcome the difficulties referred to.
I claim:- 1. An antirattle device for comprising a unitary member including a resilient" pad; of substantially" wedgershaped form provided with a flat base to engage with a mounting, said pad having its surface opposite to the base and at least one exposed edge covered with a single piece of thin flexible wear resisting material following the contour of the pad, said material forming a backing for at least a portion of the base of the pad.

An antirattle device for automobile doors comprising a unitary memberrincluding a resilient padlhavingaflatisurfacedbase; atflat edge and a smooth surface opposite the base, a portion of .the; latter surface being sloped from substantially the middle of the pad towards one edge to provide'a wedge-shaped portion, the said latter surfacevof: the pad,v the fiat edge and the edge opposite thereto and at least a portion of the lower surface being covered with thin flexible wear-resisting material following the contour of automobile. doors;
