Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
SAMUEL M. DENNISTON AND CHARLES SDWMONS, OF PRESCOTT, ARIZONA,
TERRITORY.
IMPROVEMENT IN STOP-COCK ATTACHMENTS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 198,579, dated December 25, 1877; application filed November 23, 1877.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that we, SAMUEL M. DENNIS- TON and CHARLES SIMIMONS, of Prescott in the county of Yavapai and Territory of Arizona, have invented a new and Improved Stop- Cock Attachment, of which the following is a specification Our invention consists in a tapering tube, having at its larger end a hexagonal portion for receiving a wrench, also a flange and a threaded portion for receiving a faucet.
The object of the invention is to provide a means whereby an internally threaded stopcock may be adapted to use in connectionwith barrels.
In the drawings, which is a side elevation, partly in section, A is an externally-tapered tube, having at its larger end a hexagonal portion, B, for receiving a wrench for holding the attachment while the stop-cock is attached or detached, a flange, C, for supporting a packing-ring placed between it and the flange of the stop-cook, and a nipple, D, on which the stop-cock is screwed.
This attachment is specially designed to adapt the stop-cock for which Letters Patent were granted to us August 21, 1877, numbered 194,336, to use in connection with barrels.
By employing this attachment, the stop-cock may be applied with the same advantage to barrels as to cans.
Having thus described our invention, we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent A stop-cock attachment consisting of a tapered tube, A, having a hexagonal portion, B, a flange, C, and a nipple,D, as herein shown and described.
SAMUEL M. DENNISTON. CHARLES SIMMONS.
