The invention relates to a tool, and more particularly to special pliers.

The primary object of the invention is the provision of pliers of this character, wherein the 6' jaws of the same are designed to permit the convenient removal of a broken electric bulb from a socket with dispatch, the jaws being of novel form to assure positive gripping action interiorly of the bulb to hold it and enable the turning thereof to unscrew the same from said socket irrespective of the character of fracture of such bulb.

Another object of the invention is the provision of pliers of this character, wherein the construction thereof is novel in form so as to assure the working of the pliers in a positive manner for the special duty to be imposed thereon in the use of the same.

A further object of the invention is the provision of pliers of this character, which is simple in construction, thoroughly reliable and efficient in purpose, light of weight yet strong and durable, easy of manipulation and inexpensive to manufacture.

With these and other objects in view, the invention consists inthe features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described in detail, illustrated in the accompanying drawing, which discloses the preferred embodiment of the invention, and pointed out in the claim hereunto appended.

line 33 Referring to the drawing in detail the pliers comprise a pair of swinging levers 5 and 6 respectively, formed with pivot ears 7 disposed in overlapped relation and receiving a pivot 8 which swingingly connects the levers 5 and 6 together.

The levers 5 and 6 forwardly of the pivot ears 7 are provided with work engaging jaws 9, these being tapered outwardly and have flat inner faces 10 while formed at their outer faces are laterally extending fins 11, these being outwardly tapered to form reversely beveled opposite faces 11 to each fin and rounded and presenting at their marginal portions knife edges 12 so that when these fins are inserted into a broken electric light bulb the edges 12 will bite into such bulb so that the latter can be unscrewed from its socket, it being understood of course that the tool or pliers are used for this purpose when the bulb is screwed into the socket and the same becomes broken while engaged in the socket.

The levers 5 and 6 rearwardly of the pivot ears 7 are shaped to form handles 13, these being curved at 14 and 15 respectively to assure convenient gripping thereof when the pliers are in use. It is to be understood of course that the handle 13 may be covered for the installation thereof or uncovered at the option of the user of the pliers.

The flat faces 10 of the jaws 9 can be used in the ordinary manner required of pliers of the pivoted jaw type.
