' 4 Claims. (01.131 12 This invention relates to the broad class of smokers accessories and appliances, and has more particular reference-to a-fiuid or solution to in the The present invention has to do with a struc-v turally distinct and improved arrangement which involvesithe user of a light weight buoyant body constructed to'provideasolution container, and arranged to accommodate a tobacco bowl, or a cigarettezor cigar holder.
More specifically stated, the improved device embodies the adoption of a body of general H-shaped configuration forming'a pair of perpendicular spaced parallel .barrels anda connection therebetween whereby. the. stream of .smoke is subjected to a bath'and delivered'by way of a valved mouthpiece into the mouth of the smoker in 'a cool and moistened state.
My primary aim is to generally improve upon prior art devices by providing a well-balanced j container for the aqueous solution, which solution may be medicated or scented in order to provide a pleasing aroma and to perfume the breath of the smoker thereby providing a construction, which I venture to state, better fuli fills the requirements of an accessory of this type and accomplishes the desired result in a more satisfactory manner.
Other features and advantages of the invention will become more readily apparent from the following description and drawings.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 is a sectional view showing the preferred embodiment of the invention with the tobacco bowl in place for use.
Figure 2 is a top plan View of the structure seen in Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a side elevational view proportioned more in conformity with the actual size of the finished product and showing a cigarette iholdel' substituted for the bowl.
Figure 4 is a sectional view of the arrangement illustrated in Figure 3.
In both styles or forms of the invention the body 5 is substantially identical in construction. In fact, it is of general H-shaped configuration and made of appropriate light-weight material. This particular configuration servesto define a primary vertical barrel or branch 6 and a spaced parallel secondary barrel'l, these being joined together by a connective union 8 affording com- 6 munication therebetween.v
' At .their lower ends, .thebarrels are formed with hollow disc like bases 9 and 10 respectively. The configuration of the base is such as to afford a dependable support for the device permitting it to be set firmly on a table or the like when not in use. Incidently' the entire device is proportioned to permit it to be carried in ones pocket. The'upper end of the barrel 6 is internally screw-threaded to accommodate a detachable pipe bowl 11 (Figure '1). This is formed with a slide plate valve 12 and an orifice 13 for-passage of the smoke. The threaded end portion l' l'formsa nipple'which' is tapped into the internalthreads. As shown in Figure 4 this barrel 6 mayalso be provided with external threads to accommodate the depending branch 15 of a cigaretteholdingunit'lfi. The other branch constitutes a socket -1'7= for reception of the cigarette or cigar 18 as the case maybe. In connection 0 with the internal and external threads it is to be understood that thread arrangement is optional. In other words the barrel 6 can be both internally and externally screw threaded or simply can be internally screw threaded as shown in 5 Figure 1 to accommodate one part or externally screw threaded as shown in Figure 4 to accommodate the part 16.
Here again, I provide a slide plate cut-off valve 19 which is adapted to be closed when the device is carried in the users pocket. Since the device is filled with water it is necesary to close the valve to prevent the water from running into the pocket.
The numeral 20 designates a removable screw cap on the upper end of the barrel '7. The numeral 21 designates the centrally or longitudinally bored smoke delivery stem. This has a special fitting at its inner end which is detachably connected with the barrel 7 and the fitting is formed into a cage to accommodate a springpressed check valve 22. The check valve is such as to permit the smoke to be eifectively drawn through the passage in the stem but to prevent water from flowing into the stem when the pipe is carried.
It will be noticed that the connective union 8 is formed as an integral part of the barrels 6 and 7 and is located within the vicinity of the base portions 9 and 10. This permits communication to be afiorded between the lower end portions of the barrels 6 and 7 so that it is unnecessary to place an over or excess supply of water in the device. In practice, the water is filled to a line just above the union 8. The water fills the base portions 9 and 10 and aids in supporting the device when placed on a table or the like.
One feature of the invention is predicated upon the general H-shaped configuration of the light-weight body wherein the branches or barrel portions are joined together at points adjacent their lower ends and formed with disc-like base portions to form a firm support for the entire device as a unit. Secondly, novelty is predicated upon the threaded upper end portion of the barrel 6 with internal threads (Figure 1) and external threads (Figure 4) to accommodate the bowl 11 or the cigarette holder 16, whichever is desired. In either instance, a slide plate valve or equivalent closure 19 and 12 is provided tocut ofi the water when the device is carried in ones pocket.
A further feature of novelty is predicated upon the detachable stem 21 having suitable detachable connection With the barrel 7 and equipped at the point of connection with a suitable valve to allow passage of the smoke and yet to prevent passage of waterwhen the device is carried in ones pocket.
It is thoughtfrom'the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of the invention will be readily apparent.
It is to be understood that changes may be made in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts provided that. such changes fall within the scope of the appended claims.
I claim:
1. A smokers accessory of the class described comprising a substantially H-shaped body including a plurality of inter-communicating tubularportions defining a pair of perpendicular barrels joined together through the medium of a tubular union, a valved smoke delivery stem connected with the upper end portion of one of of the barrels, and a-valved tobacco article holder detachably connected to the upper end of the remaining barrel.
2. A smokers accessory of the class described comprising a pocket size device embodying a body of general H-shaped configuration, said body being of one-piece construction and including spaced parallel perpendicular water barrels having disc-like base portions at their lower end and joined together by a tubular connection within the vicinity of said base portions, a valved smoke delivery stem detachably connected with the upper end portion of one of the barrels, the corresponding end of the other barrel being screw-threaded, and a tobacco bowl having a externally screw-threaded, and a substantially L-shaped cigarette holder having its depending portion threaded to engage the external threads of the adjacent barrel and provided with a cutoff valve.
4. A smokers accessory of the class described comprising a body including spaced parallel per-.
pendicular water barrels having supporting means at their lower ends adapted to rest on a supporting surface, a union adjoining the lower end portions of the barrels together in communi eating relationship, a valved smoke delivery stem detachably connected with the upper end portion of one of the barrels, the corresponding end of the other barrel being internally screwthreaded, and a tobacco bowl having a screwthreaded nipple threaded threads, said bowl being provided with a smoke orifice and a cut-off valve.
