No. 196,548 Patented Oct. 30.1877.

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOHN S. WILSON, OF INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA.
IMPROVEMENT IN WINDOW-SCREENS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 196,548, dated October 30, 1877 application filed August 11, 1877.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J OHN S. WILsoN, of Indianapolis, Marion county, State of Indiana, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Window-Screens, of which the following is a description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
The object of my invention is to provide windows and doors with screens of a peculiar arrangement, whereby insectsfiare prevented from ingress, but have free egress from apartments; and my invention consists of a peculiar arrangement of screens or nettings on frames, which will be hereinafterfully set forth and described.
Figure 1 is an elevation of my improved window-screen. Fig. 2 is a sectional edge view of 4 the same.
A and 13 represent telescopic or sliding frames, on which my peculiar arranged screens or nettings may be secured. The screens 0 G are attached to the outside of the frames A B, and extend from the bottom of the frames upward to a point near the top, leav- When insects alight on the apartment side of the screen O they naturally crawl upward and enter the space or opening between the two screens, and then pass to the outside of the screen 0 through the opening left at the top thereof.
The small opening or space between the top of the netting G and frame A, and the close proximity of the overlapping screen D on the inside, effectually prevent the ingress of insects.
The peculiar style and form of the frames A and B may be varied or used singly; and to the frame, either single or double, I make no broad claim.
What I claim as new, and wish to secure by Letters Patent, is.
1. A window or door screen consisting of a frame, A, and nettings or screens 0 D, arranged and adapted to be used inthe manner and for the purposes set forth.
2. In combination with a screen-frame, the screen, or netting O, left open at the top, and the so een D, arranged on the apartment side so as" 0 cover the opening at the top of screen 0 and overlap it, thus leaving a space between them, to allow egress and prevent ingress of insects, in the manner and for the purposes set forth and described.
